You question your choice of this campsite as you drive through the desolate, lunar like landscape on a washboard road. But at the end you find this nice area along the green river with a little geyser. It’s scenic among the red rock.

The road out there is pretty bumpy. If your belongings aren't seriously reinforced you will know. Not too bad of a drive out there though, just a few sharp turns, but fine if you're going slow. Beautiful area but lots of people coming in and out. I did park here on a Sunday though.

We had a perfect spot across from the geyser, a nook that protected us from the wind. No geyser activity during our stay. The 20 minute drive off I-70 was worth it for our one night stopover as we passed through the area. Very quiet. Bundled up and had a nice walk along the river, only saw two other people there for sunset. For more photos and history of the area https://roamingtogether.com/crystal-geyser-boondocking/

The water and landscape was beautiful but big bumpy road to get there my van wasn’t a fan. I felt iffy staying here by myself so left in the rising. Only a few others here, sites are pretty flat lots of turnaround space.

The road in is dirt but decently maintained and hardly any washboard. Not a ton of individual sites here but I saw a group of 5 huge RVs camping in one large area near the geyser. The geyser was erupting when I got there and was going for a while where I felt like it wasn’t so special to have “caught” the experience. But it actually did stop and was not going in the morning when people visited. Right on the river which is beautiful and tons of red rock to hike around if you want. It’s a bit soft in places and the rock crumbles easily so watch your footing. I was nestled in between the hills so even though the RV group was huge and loud, I didn’t hear them at my site. Used levelers but be careful as they easily sink into the ground. No cell service in the valley (Verizon) but I could get strong enough signal to text and even send a few pictures through when I climbed up. Stars were wonderful at night. Families can be a little loud in the morning if you don’t realize how well the sound can carry on the ridges and into the valley if you’re climbing the rocks. The stay was lovely and I would stay again

Our site north of the geyser was crazy uneven, when we first looked we were off 14 inches side to side. With work and lots of blocks we were able to get it good enough to sleep for the night. The river has a muddy bank that makes it a non-ideal place to swim for dogs or humans.
We loved the views, but for an overnight I don't think it's worth the trouble.

Very bumpy ride for about 20 min to reach. On Aug 28, it is extremely hot and the air is dusty/dry. The water wasn’t inviting enough to enter.

The local livery company does come up and drop off folks for raft trips, but they are no bother. Crazy quiet at night. The Crystal Geyser is highly intermittent in its activity. It went off several times during the night and nearly constant all morning. Some biting flies around. Didn't notice any mosquito activity. When we departed at 11AM it was 101F / 40C !!
