Great Desert Camping with Urban Amenities Outside the Gate... perfect base for Tucson activities.
With careful selection of site, you can get a little more privacy but most sites are side by side. Lots of desert wildlife.

Hiked the 50 Year and Bridle trails, and biked on the Tucson Loop trail twice, also going through some neighborhoods to stay off the bike lanes along busy roads. I called ahead to the Ranger Station for route advice and Tangerine Rd, I-10 exit 240, was suggested and was perfect. Had our first Burger at In and Out - really good! - and also ate at The Keg nearby. Our site 33B was paved and needed 1" board to level. Loved seeing roadrunners for the first time. Beautiful mosaic wall art at the Romero Canyon Trailhead. Very cool Ranger Station with souvenirs and a live snake habitat. Awesome experience!

In fact, a very strong wind woke us in the early morning & we were lucky that the portable solar panel of the campers next door was not blown into our trailer. (It did move away from their space.). There was no potable water, but the bathroom & showers were very clean & nice,
Also, the trailheads were a bit far, requiring us to drive there and fins a parking spot in the lot.

This is in campground B. A few nights earlier we stayed in overflow camping, which was cramped and campers were too close together, but at least we couldn’t hear the road. Verizon is like one or two bars-enough to check email but not do real work.

The view of the mountains were grate. If you want to be outdoors this is the place for you. Hiking, and bike riding is a huge thing. And only a couple miles from Walmart or any places to eat and fuel. Verizon cell phone service was spotty in some places but not THAT bad. I’d stay again. They also have multiple dump stations.

Stayed in campground A on our way out to CA for thanksgiving (2021) then again on our way home to TX. Must be the cleanest State Park I have ever stayed in but I put that down to the fantastic hosts over seeing it.
The site pads are all sealed and if not level very close to it. View of the mountains is wonderful and as someone else posted here it was incredibly quiet. Everyone was extremely friendly and courteous. Hence why we decided to stay here again on the way home.
Boss used the showers one night so as to wash her hair and said they were nice and very clean (and that means something coming from her).
Easy access dump station and a Walmart across from the entrance to the park.
Looking forward to next years stay.

The hosts are also top notch. We always stay in the $10 no hookup overflow lot because we're self-contained and only 22' long..
One time we had to stay in the full hook-up section because the overflow lot was full. It is very spacious making it easy for Class As and trailers to get around.
Catalina State Park can get busy during spring and fall, especially when there are gem shows in Tucson, so plan accordingly.
