Will come back in the Summer and hike the northern trail. No ATT cell service at campsite but 1 bar in different parts of the park.

2 stars because of beach. The rest of the park is poorly maintained- trees with disease or dead branches, bathrooms dirty and smell like piss & rude staff. Apparently Washington state is now open but the staff thinks the park is in phase 1 of Covid.

The price was a little steep in my opinion but it’s a great location for exploring and their sites are well maintained. Loved sleeping on the grass after several nights at dirt and gravel sites beforehand 😅 They have lots of cool trails that I wish we had more time to explore. We bought a bundle of firewood at the camp store for $6.95/... more

Loved sleeping on the grass after several nights at dirt and gravel sites beforehand 😅 They have lots of cool trails that I wish we had more time to explore. We bought a bundle of firewood at the camp store for $6.95/bundle I believe. Some other reviewers complained about noise but when we went, there was only one other family a few sites down so I didn’t notice anything. The D sites are right by the entrance though so there is more foot traffic than maybe some of the other more secluded sites.

I have loved state parks for years, but there have been so many changes in the last couple years, I rarely stay in them anymore.
Pros: gorgeous location, history, trails, beach, dense forest, etc..Sites vary from heavily wooded, to open, lakeside, and some just a couple steps from the beach. Some more private than others, depending on foliage, but sites are pretty close together. This is a huge park, great if camping with bikes. Trash, dump, showers, the usual SP features. The grounds are well kept, bathrooms clean, and many, many SP employees out and about working. The only spot with a signal is over by Waikiki Beach, as there’s a tower right there. Zero bars in campground or anywhere else.
Cons: The ever increasing costs, the showers, which blast freezing water for five minutes, scalding for two, then back to freezing. There is no way to adjust the flow or temperature, but they’re “free” so there’s that. The park, like most state parks now, is now 100% reservable, and there are ZERO walk-up sites, even in the tent area. The park was completely booked when I was there, with so many screaming kids, barking dogs, and shouting campers, I spent most of the time on the beach, even though it was cold and windy. Thankfully, I was on a loop with no generators, but the loop abutting ours had plenty.
As mentioned, I rarely stay in SP anymore, and every time I do, I appreciate COE parks and forest service parks more and more. The times, they are a-changing.

We stayed on sites 190-192 Friday night-Monday morning. The stretch we stayed on was empty when we left on Monday and Sunday night was sparse. This entire stretch (sites 188-227) is on O'Neil Lake, but absolutely no privacy. When I go back, I will try to get a site on Loop A, B, or C. The bathrooms on Loop A are the best in my opinion: single private bathrooms with heat, hot water and free showers in a private room (not stalls). Luckily, my tent was in between my friend's campers, so we made our own enclosed nest.
T-Mobile 5G Cell phone coverage: Very spotty onsite and throughout the entire State Park. It was in and out. Sometimes 1 bar, then nothing. The camp store is very convenient, the bathrooms were hosed down regularly, camper's were respectful, kept their Covid distance and wore masks in the bathrooms as required by the state.
Firewood: We purchased 2 Jenga like stacks of firewood for $10 each on the way into the park. Several locals sell firewood throughout the peninsula. Bring cash.
Even though we were in the limited privacy area, we could barely hear the other campers. Nice scenic drives, hiking trails for every level including paved ADA trails at the North Head Lighthouse (a wheelchair can easily access 2 trails). Close to Long Beach
I will definitely go back as it was very peaceful.

There were bald eagles everywhere and the whales were migrating evidently, but we didn't have time to go check it out. There are tons of trails and paved bike trails. Kids were riding scooters all over. Doggies were well behaved (and we even got a little off-leash time at the beach). Highly recommend this campground. VERY spotty internet and cell service, depending on where you were standing. We didn't care because we wanted to unplug. BTW, the campground is within a few miles of Ilwako and Long Beach in case you run out of supplies (including propane).
