Carter Falls is a short hike and a great place to cool off on a hot day. Their is also a winery that can be hiked to from Byrds Branch. This campground is hands down the best to hang a hammock and relax if you get one of the awesome back in sites. The folks that run the campground are nice people too and often have activities or special events. Don't forget to checkout nearby Downtown Elkin. We love the Angry Troll and The Elkin Rail yard.

This is a lovely campground. Easy to check in and get parked. We had one of the pull through sites. Very good size, tidy, new saplings that when grown will add privacy and shade to the middle sites. Quiet rural road so noise was not a problem. The back in sites were already shady. They have a couple different areas set up for community campfires and corn hole while each site had its picnic table and fire ring. They have an open Wi-fi connection but upload and download speeds were very low.
Lots of information about local restaurants and 2 different trails to hike a little right beside the checkin area.
Checkin, camp bathrooms and laundry facilities are across a rural street and up a hill from the rv sites.
Really easy to get to from Rt 77.

We loved that you could hike to Carters Falls and the MST trail goes right behind the store. They also had spacious and wooded tent sites available and the owners were very nice and helpful. We will be back again!

When we arrived the lady at the check-in was very helpful. She showed us where our site was and gave us paperwork on things to do in the area. We really appreciated that information since it was our first visit to the area. The campground was wonderful. Everything was clean and the site was easy to back into. The utilities worked great, even the Wi-Fi. There is a stream at the back of the sites that was beautiful. The fire ring was behind the site near the stream a very relaxing setting. The bathroom/showers were some of the cleanest we have seen. Short hikes to waterfalls, winery, brewery and a short drive into downtown Elkin which is a lovely little town. We stayed Fathers day weekend and they had a free breakfast for all campers. They have 12 RV sites 7 full hookup and 5 W/E and 4 tent sites. This was our first stay here and we loved it so much we have already made another reservation.

A little late getting our review in, since this last one was out 4th stay. We love staying here because Larena & Dwaine are always so hospitable, always welcoming. The campground is small (we like it that way) & quiet. The sites are more spacious than usual. The water spouts are heated so it’s not mandatory to disconnect in colder weather.
The bath house makes you feel like you’ve walked into a bed & breakfast bathroom. The facilities are very well maintained. The communal fire pit includes comfy chairs with lights for those later evenings & cornhole boards. We love the frisbee golf course, as it takes you around the entire grounds. A short walk to Carter Falls hiking trail, or to Grassy Creek Vineyards trail in the other direction. Another hiking trail takes you alongside the back of the campground where the creek winds. Lots of fire pits on the other side.
We love waking up in the mornings to hear the cows out & the roosters crowing, among the silence of the early morning campground.
A quick drive to downtown Elkin to explore the town & all it has to offer is always a must for us.

Great campground that is very quiet and relaxing. Very well maintained with a lot of nice little touches that make it nice. Our site was long and level it faced a woods creating privacy. The owners are so friendly and inviting. The area is pretty cool with several wineries as well as hiking trails.
