We came upon this campground after not finding anything north along Guanella Pass. It was a Friday and all campground/dispersed sites were already taken. We snagged one of the two last spots at Burning Bear. The host was very welcoming and keeps the place very clean. The sites seemed on the smaller side but perfect for tents and smalle... more
We came upon this campground after not finding anything north along Guanella Pass. It was a Friday and all campground/dispersed sites were already taken. We snagged one of the two last spots at Burning Bear. The host was very welcoming and keeps the place very clean. The sites seemed on the smaller side but perfect for tents and smaller rigs. There was a nice hiking trail just down the road that we walked to from our campsite. We could get some AT&T service when we walked toward the road. We enjoyed our stay and the close proximity to the Mount Bierstadt trailhead.

grounds were clean and comfortable. did not use the vaulted toilets so cannot comment. well-hosted by Jacob. some sites had standing water due to recent rains. no cell coverage ...

I didn't stay here as I found a free site open nearby on Bruno Gulch Rd, but I drove through this campground to check it out. It has 13 sites and was priced at $22/night for overnight. Water was available, although no hookups. A vault toilet was there, as well. Looked like it was mostly for tent camping, although a few sites looked lar... more
I didn't stay here as I found a free site open nearby on Bruno Gulch Rd, but I drove through this campground to check it out. It has 13 sites and was priced at $22/night for overnight. Water was available, although no hookups. A vault toilet was there, as well. Looked like it was mostly for tent camping, although a few sites looked large enough for a 20 - 30' RV and a couple sites were pull-through. If you need the water or toilet, stay here. Otherwise, look at Bruno Gulch or Kirby Gulch (FR 119) not too far away for some free sites.
