Beautiful place with amazing views BUT there is nothing to do there unless you can boat! The water level was super low and the wind was savage. Amazing Tmobile signal! The road to get to it is a washboard, shakes everything!

Cudos to the Ranger though!! He’s currently single handedly running this park until he can get some help hired. He was very helpful.
1)we would stay again with safe drinking water
2)encourage NM State Parks to offer Via Sat internet like they have in some of their other State Parks(campers pay for what they use)

Cove and Central campgrounds appeared closed, perhaps they are open during the high season. North Area and Bell Point are adjacent to each other, not sure why they are not under one name.
Nearly every site has lots of extra space to spread out, plenty of space for extra vehicles, boats, etc. Almost all of the sites have a 3 sided shelter covering a picnic table offering protection from the sun and wind built by the YCC. It was windy for our stay in the evening but we had a beautiful morning.
Some sites are reservable, others first come first serve. It was fairly full on a Sunday. Restrooms were very nice and clean.

Beats the heck out of me why this campground doesn't have dozens of reviews. Granted, you have to want to go there because it isn't close to much, but once you get there and see the incredible views, you will want to stay. This is one of the nicest campgrounds we have been to in a while. The pads are roomy and level with plenty of separation. The upper loop (called Bell Point) has gorgeous views of the lake. Pads have electric and water. There are flush toilets and showers in both of the north area campgrounds. This lake is a kayaker's dream come true.
Now the bad news... If you aren't into fishing or boating, you will get bored pretty quickly. The property surrounding the lake is almost all private so there are no hiking or biking trails, and I do mean none! Absolutely no Verizon cell service to be had despite a large cell tower nearby. Be sure and top off your fuel tank before heading to the lake (groceries too) as there are no services at the lake. There is one small store that looks like it is on it's last leg. They do sell gas and diesel but they close at 2 PM. $3.59 for diesel.
All in all, a fantastic place to camp if you go prepared... bring a couple books.
Rusty would stay here again
