We used campground as home base during our New Orleans visit. We used Algiers Point ferry to get in/out of French Quarter and parked our vehicle near ferry terminal (Jazzy Pass is wonderful for this feature). The campground is a little scruffy. We used campground as home base during our New Orleans visit. We used Algiers Point ferry to get in/out of French Quarter and parked our vehicle near ferry terminal (Jazzy Pass is wonderful for this feature). The campground is a little scruffy. The grounds were mowed around campsite but just barely. The bath house/laundry was adequate (coin op washers & dryers) but like the grounds, it was just average. The highlight was the pool. It was clean and very refreshing (hours were 10a-6p). All in all it was okay but could use some needed TLC.

Il faut savoir que la piscine ouvre seulement à partir de la fin de semaine du Memorial day à la toute fin du moins de mai, même s'il fait 32° C le jour. Camping et site ok. Certains sites n'ont pas d'ombre. Il faut savoir que la piscine ouvre seulement à partir de la fin de semaine du Memorial day à la toute fin du moins de mai, même s'il fait 32° C le jour. Si vous arriver après la fermeture des gates le soir, il faut passer par un autre chemin dans la noirceur et ouvrir le cadenas de la gate et le refermer. C'est un système de cadenas manuel. Apporter votre lampe de poche. Aucune gate électrique. Boardwalk non entretenu. On ne croise jamais d'employé, sauf a l'accueil. Endroit calme. A la tombée du jour, c'est impossible de rester dehors (nous y étions en mai), car nous sommes envahie par des nuages de mouches qui nous colle sur la peau et les vêtements. Sanitaires relativement propres. Camping prêts de tous les services.

Camping and site ok. Some sites have no shade. You should know that the swimming pool only opens from Memorial Day weekend to the very end of May, even if it is 32° C during the day. If you arrive after the gates close in the evening, you must go another way in the dark and open the padlock on the gate and close it. It is a manual padlock system. Bring your flashlight. No electric gate. Unmaintained boardwalk. We never meet an employee, except at reception. Peaceful place. At dusk, it's impossible to stay outside (we were there in May), because we are invaded by clouds of flies which stick to our skin and clothes. Relatively clean sanitary facilities. Camping ready for all services.

All the sites are back-in; no pull-throughs. There is no sewer hook-up; just a dump station which was closed for several days during our 9-day stay. All the sites are back-in; no pull-throughs. There is no sewer hook-up; just a dump station which was closed for several days during our 9-day stay. Some of the sites had nice little wooden decks; ours did not (#25). Bath house was fairly clean. Sites were very unlevel. There were lots of rules about not parking on the grass or parking your boat at the site, which were not enforced. The campground is close to the swamp tours and airboat rides, and the little fresh seafood market is close. Otherwise, traffic in the area was wild and got even worse when we went into N.O.

We were in site 25, spacious and fairly level with no low, wet spots. Bathhouse was clean with hot water. Utilities at site worked well, and dump station was well equipped and maintained. The campground roads (as with many roads in Louisiana) are rough and in need of repair. We noticed some power boat sounds from our site on Sunday, but otherwise the campground was pretty quiet. We visited New Orleans by driving to Angiers Point, parking in a public lot, then taking the ferry over to Canal Street pier (if you buy an online Jazzy Pass, that works for ferry ride plus any streetcar or bus rides!).

This location to close to air boat tours Jean Lafitte National Preserve, Several plantations and access to New Orleans. The campground is spacious with plenty of trees. Some of the infrastructure like roads and bathhouses are sowing some age.
Driving here is a bit nerve wracking. Stop lights are just a suggestion. If you want to go into the city, consider the passenger ferry at Aigiers Point. Driving in NO is challenging and parking is expensive. This was a suggestion from a park employee in the office.

I stayed 7 days. With senior discount it averaged $15 a day. Grounds were clean and wildlife made appearances. Noisy during the day with activity on the nearby bayou. No internet. Reason not to give 5 stars is the bathrooms and showers were beyond disgusting. You feel like you are breathing in bacteria. Even one of the hosts said “... more

Quirks: It's a good little drive into the campground. It's also CRAZY dark at night, so your choices are blasting lights and blinding campers or running over a possom.
Site: Meh.
Nearby: Riding bikes around the park was pretty sweet. Saw lots of birds and a few gators. The stroll around the campground was pretty okay, as well. But as soon as you leave the park, you're fighting traffic that's fighting veteran potholes.
Value: Probably fair.

Very little shade. Boardwalk In the campground Is overgrown and unstable. Wave Pool and splash pad are closed “until further notice”. This park isn’t worth the stay unless you HAVE to. Louisiana state parks could use some help.
