We enjoyed our stay here while visiting New Orleans. The park was spacious with surrounding nature that made for a quiet stay, while still being close to downtown. We didn’t mind the 15-20 minute drive to downtown. Friendly staff and park rangers. Free laundry was a major perk! 2 bathhouses w/ 2 washers and dryers each. Dryers were slow drying, but no complaints because we didn’t have to pay. Shower house was ok, could be cleaner, but didn’t expect much based on other state parks. The WiFi was slow, but we expected that too. No sewage hookup, so expect to dump every couple days or use shower houses.
All in all, a decent stay, especially for the price and proximity to New Orleans.

If you are going to New Orleans, this is the cheapest way to stay nearby, and as we found, also an amazing park. We knew going into it that it was not FHU, so I cannot count that against the park. They have about 100 RV sites in 2 loops and 2 bathrooms with free laundry. The bathrooms were okay (and unfortunately while we were staying there the mens bathroom only had hot water in the shower) and the laundry was just 2 washers and 2 dryers per bathhouse which was great.
The playgrounds were really nice as well and everything was in pretty good order in the park.
They have a waterpark and other attractions, but we were there to go into NOLA so we did not check anything else out.
The sites were concrete and long enough for us comfortably and we even had an extra wooden deck on our site. Plenty of tent campers around also. The site was just a little bit skinny, but we were able to make due and get level without any issues.
To drive into NOLA and get to a parking lot took 20 minutes flat, so that is great. If you dont want to mess with the traffic / parking costs, use the ferry. We did not have a chance to do the ferry, but heard good things. Also, on the way to NOLA, Manhattan Street has just about every shop you need, so that is great.

This turned out to be a nice state park campground and a good place for our home base while visiting New Orleans. It is a 30 minute drive to the French Quarter, but it was a pretty easy drive except for the last mile or so in New Orleans. You can take the ferry as well to save on some parking costs and traffic. The campground is pretty big, and the sites (all back-ins) are quite large. Our site was fantastic, with lots of space and privacy. Strangely, some of the other sites we saw had their camping space on the wrong side of the RV. There are enough roads and sidewalks that we were able to do some long walks with our dog, but there aren't really any trails. Our Verizon hotspot worked quite well, but our AT&T phones usually had 1-2 bars of 4G (no LTE) and often had no service at all. The campground WiFi was too slow to be useful. Since there's no sewer, we used the campground showers. The water was hot but the bath houses were cold inside. Two of the three men's showers in the closest bath house had no temperature control and the water was far too hot to shower in. The entrance/pay booth for the campground is elevated (presumably in case of flooding) and the ramp to check in there was so steep that our tow bar between our motorhome and car dragged and scraped on our way up and down. There's no way to avoid that ramp. There are plenty of stores nearby but they all seemed pretty run down, and it was hard to find any restaurants in the area that weren't a big national chain. Despite all these nitpicks, this is a great looking, clean campground with huge sites and pretty good convenience to New Orleans. We'll probably stay here again if we visit the area in the future.

We stayed here on a water/electric only site for 9 nights the second week of January 2018. We had a site on the back of the loop and only had one neighbor the whole time. It was like we had our own section of the park. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The park itself was very clean but the bathrooms could use some help. They weren't necessarily dirty but the showers drained slow which left you standing in an ankle-deep pool of yours and the stall next to yours dirty water, ICK! The pressure was also pretty week. There was also no heat in the bathroom, which on the days we had Snow, sucked. The week we stayed they were working on the levee near the park and the road behind our campsite was a major thoroughfare for loud dump trucks all day long. They did provide wifi but it was typically slow and almost unusable. That's the bad. Our site was spacious, there was a garbage collection area close to our site that was collected daily, FREE LAUNDRY and if you were to go in the warmer months it seemed like there was an abundance of amenities such as wave pool, swimming pool, boat ramp and golf course. Great proximity to the French Quarter either by car or you can take a ferry right to Canal Street. Also close to grocery and other stores for provisions. Even with the few negatives, we enjoyed our stay and for a campground in/near New Orleans, it was pretty nice. While in New Orleans, other than the French Quarter I highly recommend the World War II museum, beignets from the original Cafe Du Monde, oysters from Felix's, check out the street performers, some are truly amazing and if your feeling frisky find a vendor selling hand grenades and hold on to your hat. :)

Bayou Segnette was the perfect base camp for visiting New Orleans. The sites are HUGE, the park is clean and the rangers and camp host are very nice. The park is peaceful with little traffic even when it is full. There is constant noise during the day from air boats, but you're on a bayou so that is to be expected. At night you can hear sirens and traffic, but it's distant so not all that bad. Verizon and AT&T were both acceptable for remote work. I had no problems over the course of two weeks being continuously connected to my VPN and having conference calls. Both Uber and Lyft are in the area and it costs $18-25 per ride to go uptown with both services. Very convenient.
****DO NOT LISTEN TO YOUR GPS!!!**** If you are coming from the East and your GPS tells you to take 610 DO NOT LISTEN! Use the directions that the park gives you to take 10 to 90 and approach the park from the east. DO NOT go through Metarie !!!! We listened to our GPS and approached the park from the west and it was HORRIBLE coming through Metarie. The roads were the worst we've ever been on. I thought our rig was going to fall apart and the tires were going to explode!!!!!
There have been some reviews about the safety of the park and I do want to touch on that, unfortunately. When we arrived the site across from us was occupied by less than desirable campers. They were urinating everywhere, publicly, wandering over to our site asking if we had cigarettes...it was, uncomfortable. We were concerned enough to not want to leave our rig alone. It was disappointing. That said, we reached out to the camp host and staff and they kept an eye on them until they departed. I can't say enough nice things about the staff and camp host that were all over it making sure we felt safe and comfortable. I hate to have to leave a review like that but they were peeing all over their site and it was just not cool.

We weren't big fans of the cold, stainless steel finishings in the bathrooms. It was compounded by the cold weather.
Otherwise we liked it and appreciated that the campsites were nicely spaced out. We'll definitely stay here again the next time we pass through New Orleans.

What really stood out to us was how spacious the sites are and how much room there is between them. Access to the city was easy via our tow vehicle. We didn't use the ferry, so I can't comment on it. The area in which this park is located is not attractive.
One thing that people have not commented about, and a sore spot for me was the campground bathroom. The good news is that they have one at all, and it has free, hot showers. However, there is no soapdish, no bench or chair of any kind. That is reflective of poor design and inattention to the needs of campers. There seems to be only one campground bathroom for a lot of sites.
We were assigned a site with no functioning electric (my surge protector light would not turn green and informed me of an open ground). There was no reference on the campground board as to a camp host. The numbers we called gave us contrary information. I had to spend an hour at the office the next day to sort it out, and even then I have to wait for a refund after their form gets proeccesed by the state. Imagine if you had to put up with that at Home Depot!
We would surely stay here again. It is a great value compared to the French quarter RV Resort, but if you want the total ambience of being in the French quarter, that place certainly has a value. Westwego is not the Quarter...
Louisiana will give a senior discount to any citizen of a state that gives Louisiana citizens senior discounts. Since I'm from Florida, which they told me does not give Louisianians discounts at its state parks, I received none. However, if you are from Maryland-good news; you're in!
