Forest Road 275 Dispersed Camping

Please note this road is now closed to dispersed camping and any other recreation. This was confirmed by a ranger from the South Park Ranger District office in Fairplay, who I spoke with by phone mid-September 2020. The cattle gate remains, but is now chained/locked with signage about "administrative use only". Translation: this offshoot is no longer open to public use. While some folks are cutting the chain anyway, the NFS folks will come back and re-secure it. The ranger I spoke with said the main issue was ATV riders regularly hassling grazing livestock and the nearby ranchers who have grazing rights to the area were tired of dealing with it. So, unfortunately, this is a situation where a few ruin it for the many, and you'll even see that 275 no longer appears on the MVUM maps. I was told this should be considered a permanent decision. Such a bummer!
