There are dumpsters throughout, and the place is pretty clean, except for broken glass. We are impressed that the city maintains this site and charges $0 for travelers to stop. We plan to try one of the restaurants in town for dinner and check out the Shakespeare Ghosttown. Don’t worry about the arch that is debated in several of the reviews because there are 2 driveways to enter. If you are worried you. Igor be too tall, simply use the second road in and avoid the arch. Great stop, thanks Lordsburg!

Nothing fancy but was relatively clean and felt safe, police patrolled through at least a couple times. I arrived early afternoon and only saw two other campers. Maybe 6 of us there by nightfall. The arch you see in the photo wouldn’t have cleared my 13’6” 5er but the gravel road in goes around the arch so no worries there

This was a great stop. Free and quiet. Nice open area for big rigs and fairly flat. You can hear a train off in the distance and the interstate but not enough to really disturb you. I spent a good hour picking up shards of glass and other small bits of trash. If everyone who stays here did that it would sure help keep it free.

There are obvious other paths that are gravelled. The entrance is not friendly to high rigs due to a low decorative arch, but easy to go down the out lane to avoid. Only a few people here. There is a dump station at the flying j nearby, food store with some of the friendliest people, and a laundry mat all in this little town and so was great for a two day catchup with chores type visit after a week on the BLM lands on the highway that goes over to Silver City earlier. The town itself is very quiet, apparently mine closures have resulted in an exodus of some people.

I have known about this free campground for a while but it just never worked out to stay until last night. Pulled in around 3:30PM and was surprised at just how many sites there were. Only one other camper at that point though about 6 to 8 rolled in by 8pm or so. We were in a 26' class C pulling a toad and it was easy in easy out. There is an arch to go under at the main entrance and if you are too tall for it there is an alternative way in on each edge of the park. No amenities other than one dumpster but a great place to stay if you need to rest for the night and only a mile south of I-10 on a nice paved road. Had a quite night and definitely would return.

Didn't appear that the place is regularly maintained in terms of cutting the brush, but it is reasonably clean and quite. The town doesn’t have much to offer either, but it’s ok for a short stop.

Located just off the interstate, this is a great location for one night. it is a park which seems to be used primarily for overnight camping. I arrived mid afternoon and there were two other vans in the park (obviously staying overnight). before sunset about 10 RV rolled in and almost everyone left in the morning. there were perhaps 30 picnic tables, each with their own shade/shelter and gravel pad/path. some had water spigots. and most were level. not the most beautiful location, but certainly perfect for one night. NOTE there are big signs saying the park is closed at night but nothing about no camping allowed.

Big rig friendly. There was a nice big gravel area with plenty of room outside the park for us to stay the night. There is also a KOA about a block away. There was another rv parked outside the park. I would definitely want to come back and stay inside the park. There is nothing posted to say when it will be opening again. The nice video that was posted clearly shows exactly what to expect.

I called to verify the park was open to the Lordsburg Visitor center. Greeted by a Hello rather than Visitor Center I was able to verify that the park was open as I was concerned due to Coronavirus restrictions and traveled to Lordsburg. What I found was an overgrown campground with the inability to even sit at the tables. This facility should be closed until it can be properly maintained as it shows more of a lack of respect than the original intentions. The posted sign allowed for day use only but even 10 minutes was too long. Under different circumstances it would be a good overnight as long as you had your own bathroom facilities as nine when available. Disappointing as I called to ensure and was treated as if asking if it were open was a stupid question only to find a closure and overgrowth.

Stopped by 4-17-20 on the way to TX for the night. The park is closed with yellow caution tape. I assume its because of the covid thing but wanted to give folks a heads up if they plan on coming here for the night, it is in face closed. We drove down the street and paid 40 bucks at the KOA because we had to.
