We wanted a local to waterfalls (5) site. Van Hook is just right! Stay in #19 even thought close-ish to RT64, could only hear the LOUD exhausted car/trucks. I stayed over the course of the last three days entertaining my parents in the area. Absolutely wonderful trails that adjoins day use area with a nice loop trail around cliff side lake. A few miles up 64 is the wonderful town of Highlands with its sleepy mountain town feel with unique shops and restaurants. We really enjoyed that fresh mountain air scent while here. Site 20 was magnificent with room and I never even had to level my 25 ft travel trailer, however I would advise pulling a trailer over the 30 ft as the twists and turns on 64 can be very tight. Very nice facilities with flushing toilets and hot showers (which I believe were cleaned multiple times per day). All the sites had really great space between them with lots of lush vegetation to dampen the noise. I left feeling very rejuvenated after our 3 day stay. Some noise can be heard from road but it wasn’t all that bad and traffic slows significantly at night.

We found this spot just hours before we parked while we were traveling to Charleston, SC. We are so happy we found it and wished that we could have spent at least a full day here. It was a Monday night and very quiet (only one other RV and one tent camper) but I imagine that it's a blast to go to with a family for a few days. The sites were spacious and separated by trees and foliage, as the sites are nestled into the woods of the park. The bathroom facilities were very clean and well-kept. I can't remember if there were showers. We found the camp hosts and volunteers to be very friendly and helpful.
Too bad we couldn't stay for longer so we could swim in the lake...it looked AWESOME!
No pictures, but it was a lovely area.

My daughter and I camped one night in a tent. This is very pretty and well maintained USFS campground. Site 12 is tent only. The bathrooms were clean and in excellent shape. Firewood is available for purchase at the camp host's site. There are several sites than can accommodate large campers or RVs.
