Our First Dispersed Camping Trip With The Van. Amazing Hidden Location. With Hikes To Two Falls. We Did The Hike To Glenn Falls Which Was A 900’ Vertical In About 2 Miles Walking To The Top. We Use Verizon Cell Service Which Was Nonexistent At The Campsite. Maybe 1 Bar At The Top Of The Falls.

When you come to the fork, at the sign, proceed to the left. There is a spot (very secluded) on the left, keep going to the next spot and the spacious spot I had will be the next one on right. I will be going back! I was in a van and it was easy to get to but bigger rigs might have trouble. I didn’t have any cell service.

Beautiful dispersed forest camping. Not suitable for big rigs. Our campsite was down a short drive and backed onto s creek. At the info board take a left and first left is a great site. We were in a truck camper anc it was perfect. Highlands is 35 minutes away and is an upscale tourist town with plenty of food options.

It took close to 30 minutes to get to the info kiosk from the turn onto blue valley road off 28. Blue valley rd is really long and loose gravel and narrow.
But once you get there there are sites to the right and the left.
We stayed over Labor Day weekend.
The weather was absolutely gorgeous.
Nice and cool. The creek ran through the back of our site, we were in the first one to the right of the kiosk. The kiosk gives no info about blue valley btw. Every person stopped and read it all just as confused as when I stoped to seek info.
There are no bathrooms. Not even a pot toilet so come with your win camp toilet.
There’s also no nearby dumpster to drop your trash after camping. There’s a service station off of Rich rd but it’s closed on Sunday’s.
Just be prepared to pack in and pack out.
We spent 3 days here with our 4 kids and it was soo quiet even with a packed campground.
Far down on the left the road was blocked after a certain point by a fallen tree (there were lots of recent downed trees) so we weren’t able to make it down to see how far it was to the other trail head . But Glenn falls trail head which is to the right side of the road was very nice.
We had ZERO cell service. In fact it look us driving all the way into town and sitting the the Bryson’s food store parking lot to get service. It takes close to 45 minutes to get into town from the sites. Mostly cause you have to go so slow on the gravel road. So don’t be us , check the weekends weather before heading in lol.
They only have a Bryson’s food store and a dollar general. There’s nothing else. We also only saw one gas station. Which isn’t opened on sundays.
But Overall it was great and what we were wanting and I’d for sure go again.

We originally planned to stay at a camp site near a waterfall on FSR367, but it is closed through April 1. We ended up staying at the group camp site at the intersection of Blue Valley Road and FS79C. Typical of group sites, there was a little bit of trash scattered around. Other than that, it was a very nice, open area with a fire pit, lantern hook and picnic table. There are two other campsites on either side. We had no problems driving on the well maintained road even after it snowed 4.5 inches on us during the night.

We will be back again, there is a creek that runs along the various campsites and the sound of the water is very relaxing..

Beautiful, large, private sites. You couldn’t see our site from the road, huge site, lots of woods surrounding for kids to play and explore, right beside a gorgeous large creek.

When you reach the info Kiosk, we saw one occupied campsite on the left and drove approximately 0.75 miles past it and didn't see another so turned around. Just to the right of the kiosk, there are another 4 sites. The sites are grouped with one access point per two sites. All sites were spacious and clean. Access to Highlands was about 15-20 minutes. A nice easy hike is Whiteside Mountain National Recreation Trail, about 2 miles round trip with some great views. $3 parking fee.
Would have rated 5 stars if it were more scenic (mountain or river view).

It was a nice site with a picnic table and a tent site and a lantern post and a cleared path down to the cold river.
