It is the most visited State Park in Oregon. Probably because of the number of sites and its proximity to I-5 and the California border. It is also on the Rogue River.
But it is close enough to the freeway to disturb your sleep. Of course the six campsites within 50 didn’t make it very peaceful. I would also concur with the other reviews noting the scary wanderers through the park.
We stayed here to visit family. I would not go out of your way to make this a destination stay.
Price reflects disabled veterans discount.

Sometimes its hard to pick a site off the web map.
Very pretty campground, nicely spaced sites. Fall colors coming in which was nice treat. Only issue was the fwy noise but with windows closed it was not so bad and sleeping was easy. Good stop over, one night stand on the way further north. Verizon cell service was great. 4bars 4g

The front gate wasn’t staffed the entire time we were there. Understaffed and/or COVID, I suppose. We had reserved online so we just went to our sites. A ranger arrived about an hour later to check us in. We asked if she would trim a tree that was rubbing against our motorhome, and she said “maybe if we have time”. They never did trim it so after a couple of days we did it ourselves! This was our first time here, and it was not a good impression. There is no screening of who’s coming in or what they are driving. We saw many people sleeping in their cars with piles of junk and trash laying around. Several times there were three or more cars in one site. There were a lot of very old campers and lots of tents. Another RVer we talked to said it had really gone downhill since the last time they were here. The rangers did kick someone out who was being a scary nuisance to us and others. In 8 years of travel, this is one of the few parks where we have felt unsafe. The sites and roads are paved which is a positive. Trees need trimming on all the roads. We saw very few, if any, sites that were level. Most of the longest sites (including ours) have a curve near the front which makes it interesting to park an un-bendable motorhome. Many sites are also awkward to back into due to the angle and trees. There is nice spacing between sites and tall trees that offer some shade. Grass is optional and is losing the battle to dirt and sticky weeds. There are many, many ankle breaker holes dug by ground squirrels and gophers. We even lucky enough to have a broken water sprinkler that we had to cover to avoid tripping over it. Each site comes with a coveted, tired picnic table. The campground is right by I-5 so there is constant traffic noise regardless of your site. The restrooms and showers are old and need a good cleaning. They did have toilet paper and paper towels. There is no WI FII. Verizon was 4g 4 bars. Satellite is possible in some sites. If you are towing, it is best to unhook your vehicle in the amphitheater parking lot or you will block the road at your site. We visited some of the wineries and breweries. It was very smoky when we were there so didn’t do any outdoor activities. Definitely left a bad taste in our mouths!

Most of the full hook up sites are being used by FEMA for last years fire victims.
While you are next to the Freeway the noise is not bad. Yes when outside you can hear it. But it was quite inside the RV at night.

Super easy access from I-5. Some reviewers have mentioned the freeway noise, however, it was not too distracting. After a day of driving, this stop was a nice place to stop and stretch our legs before grabbing some sleep. Clean showers and bathrooms.

Our GPS wanted to take us up to Exit 48 on I-5N, but we followed the website instructions and the State Park signs off I-5 and took Exit 45B. You will go through the rest area before coming to the gate leading into the campground (CG) areas. Check in was super easy with a very informative brief by the park ranger. We were in the F Loop, which is in the far back of the park. We proceeded to back-in site F36 with 30/50 AMP and water. Our rate reflects the Oregon Disabled Veteran’s Pass, where veterans with a disability rating, regardless of state residency, get 10 nights free camping per calendar month in OR State Parks. The back-in was interesting as the asphalt pad has a bit of a 'C' curve turn to it but we were able to navigate after a couple of adjustments. This site is one of the most spacious in the park with huge trees, which we had to move our rig over a bit so we could get our slides out. However these shade trees were a blessing as they protected us from the unusually high temperatures the Pacific Northwest was experiencing. The park’s CG areas run along I-5 so you are going to get road noise regardless of your site. We used our sound machine at night so the road noise wasn’t too bad, but its definitely noticeable when you’re outside. Loop A is tents and yurts. Loops B, C, D, & E have the FHU sites, but the sites in the B & C loops are crowded together. D & E loops have decks and large propane tanks with fairly new travel trailers, which are currently being used to provide shelter to people displaced by the 2020 wildfires. Loop F has only water & electric but sites are better spread out and worked fine for our short stay. Each area had a shower house. There is a laundry, but the machines were not working during our stay. We enjoyed taking our pups for walks on the multiple trails in and around the park. We experienced a power outage and the park rangers were on it to include ensuring everyone was kept informed on the status. everyone was informed on the status.

This park is not in a forest but it has enough trees to make one. Roadway lined by mature collection and incredible variety of trees including giant sequoia. Each camp loop also has a fabulous number and variety of trees. It adds such beauty to the place. In addition, between the river and the campsites there is a Greenway Trail about 3 1/2 miles long for lovely walk and lots of great bird watching. Highway noise is just a drone not a distraction, the park is a peaceful place to be.

Clean restrooms, campsites a little tight but not terrible. Great choice if you just need a place to camp for the night on the way to somewhere else. Price seemed high compared to similar campgrounds.

There was a not-so-nice RV a few spots away, that seemed a little on the sketchy side, but the trail along the river, the greenery in the loop to the west of us and the river access (remember hot!) all made it fine. This is not a place we would go and spend several days - it is a place for a one night stop for us.

This is not camping - this is pitching a tent at a raceway.
There is nothing grand or noteworthy about this park. It’s the Super 8 of State Parks. You stay a night because you have no other option. I have 3 night booked - just arrived and I can’t bring myself to pitch the tent. I’d rather drive 4 hours home.
Harsh but true. If you don’t believe me come check it out.
