Sidewinder Rd is washboard until it’s a mix of heavy gravel/sand/dirt. If you press through this it thins out and then you arrive at a large open area of the same heavy g/s/d, but it is hard packed. It’s not easy to identify the area in the dark...

We didn’t realize that a reservation was necessary and the website didn’t allow a same day reservation and the phone was a forever hold. We “squatted” for the night hoping our site wasn’t reserved and figured we’d settle up in the morning....

Arrive early and get a river side spot, otherwise you’re in the large upper open lot. Not as private, but easy access and still quiet.
Looks like a good spot, but it is still closed.

This is an easy place to find and use. Bathrooms are clean, wifi is solid and they even warned us that it was dropping to 10° at night. Only draw back are the trains that run parallel to Rt 66 on a regular basis.
