About 10 miles to Joshua Tree NP entrance, 20 miles to hiking. About 3-4 miles from restaurants in Twentynine Palms. Overall good experience.
AT&T cell service was great - 4 bars of 5G, no problem streaming un-interrupted. Many HDTV channels.

Even enjoyed the 9 hole golf course next door for a relaxing morning of golf. Evening stars are beautiful.
Sites are level, easy to access. Showers and facilities were clean and well maintained. Check-in and out was smooth. Quiet park, staff was helpful.
Visited last 3 years - in the Spring they had Saturday night dinners for a great price, that was a nice surprise!
Plan to stay and relax longer next time.

We stopped here in late February after a longish day of travel from southern Arizona.
The facility is generally well kept. The showers are great and there's a pool that looks clean, but isn't heated. There's also a hot tub that looks great, but hasn't been operational since at least early November of last year. I was told a part needed for the hot tub was only days away from arriving. Sure it is.
My guess is people staying here are mostly longer-term and most likely have some connection to the nearby Marine Base. It's anyone's guess why they put up with less-than-stellar facilities.
They offer a Good Sam discount, but make sure you ask for it. We received it for our first night (the person making our reservation on the phone asked if we had it), but when I extended our stay the next day, the lump who was assisting me didn't discount our two additional nights and told me I should have asked for the discount even though he had what I'd payed the evening before on a computer screen. He didn't offer to correct his mistake.
Great Verizon coverage and an easy drive or bike ride (well-marked bike lanes) into Twentynine Palms for errands.
Joshua Tree National Park is close by too.
Edit: My wife, being infinitely more patient with incompetence than I, just returned from the office with our Good Sam Discount receipt. All's well...

Pool has been closed for months! They finished some repairs, removed all dirt in the bottom and refilled. Crystal clear for days and now cloudy again with “pump” problem. Whirlpool has been empty for months with no apparent damage or repair attempts being made. Sauna is also unavailable!
This is not a “resort”!

However, it's easy to get in and out, it close to the park and Twentynine Palms offers all amenities of a small city. As a base to explore Joshua Tree NP, it's a good, clean and safe spot. We didn't use any facilities, so I can't comment on them but our site was clean upon arrival. We would stay here again.

We were coming into Joshua Tree National Park and needed a camp spot. Really wish we had gone to the KOA on the south side of the park.
This location was expensive for such a poorly kept campground. We were assigned a site right on the road but when we pulled up there was the site neighbor that had parked his truck in our site... Not a big deal, I thought - I'll just ask him to move. Knocked on his door - he steps out of a wreck of an old RV and tells me he can't because his truck is broken down. Great. Now I have to go get another spot from the staff. They don't care... Just put us one spot down from him again.
These sites are tiny, expensive (for what you get) and grounds are poorly kept. Go somewhere else.

As we drove through the desert we were looking for a place that had electric hook up so we could run our air conditioning. The temperature here in the valley in September was 109 F. I called ahead and Cindy answered and said yes there are plenty of sites available and there was electric water and sewer hook ups. She seemed pretty sleepy and said that they closed at five. We got there at 5:05 and the doors were still open, when I walked in she lamented that she hadn’t locked the doors. But then proceeded to hand me a packet of information about staying here as well as a way for me to just put my fees and information in an envelope in the dropbox since she couldn’t be bothered with doing the administration to check us in. This is a decent place in the desert. There is a road nearby but nothing too noisy. There are decent shade trees at some sites. The sites are relatively level with an asphalt pad next to it to put your chairs or table. The office and game rooms look to be adequate. They claim to have Wi-Fi but nothing reaches any of the campsites. Overall I would stay here again if you want to be near Joshua tree or just traveling through on your way to San Diego as we were.

Seems to be mostly an RV Park (we stay in a converted truck bed). Very tight quarters and not much privacy. People were nice and it was super clean. They have a hot tub, pool, sauna and awesome hot showers. A little pricey but worth it considering the amenities.
