I wish I'd known about this place a few years ago - I'd definitely have stayed here for my week in Custer.
This time I was simply passing through, so I only stayed one night. To begin, the property is very well cared for and it's obvious the owners developed their property with a specific vision in mind. It's sort of a western, rustic farm vibe, right down to the roosters crowing nearby. Note that the sites are smaller and the turns are tight, so this may not be perfect for every size rig. Ask before you book. There are also cabins to rent.
I had a site with water/electric, both of which worked fine and had a good Verizon signal. There are trees throughout the campground which provide nice shade. The bathrooms and showers were clean and well kept. It was wonderfully quiet at night (yes, the roosters crowed in the morning). The property is only a short drive from Custer, SD, where you can find everything you need from food to fuel to really cool rock shops. Nearby attractions include Custer State Park, the Crazy Horse Memorial, Mount Rushmore, Wind Cave National Park and Jewel Cave National Monument.
I'd strongly consider making this my base camp if I return to this area.

Be sure to work with the owner to select your site. Some sites are big and some are small. Some have full hookups and some have just water and 30 amp. Some hookups are in an unusual location. The owner can work through these details with you.

The owners very nice and helpful. The resort is clean and quiet. It is a little tight, so if you have a big rig make sure you speak with Tom to make sure they can accommodate.
The location is ideal if you want to see all the sites like Rushmore and Crazy Horse, etc.

The bath house was immaculate, great water pressure and plenty of hot water. Sites were roomy. Friendly hosts! Perfect location between downtown Custer and the west entrance of Custer State Park. Just be forewarned that when reserving, you pay half and there are no refunds given. I would have preferred a different site as #5 has the picnic table down a small hill from the camp site.

Not sure why some previous reviews thought backing in was a problem as we had plenty of turnaround space to maneuver. Very good Verizon signal.

Our site, as well as the others, can be challenging to back into, but not impossible. The dump station will require you to exit the campground(but not the resort) since its location is on the opposite side when exiting but not when arriving. Anyway, great hosts, hot showers, and a nice setting!!

We were planning on dry camping in Custer State Park for 4 nights, but weren't getting enough solar into the 2nd day. Called this campground on a Fri. and they had open sites and were just down the road. They gave us a back-in 30 amp FHU site that had plenty of room and was just a few yards from the very clean and well-kept bath house. The RV sites are in the back, lower part of the property and the cabins are in the front. While we had plenty of room, some of the sites are a little oddly sized and small, but would work for a class B. Most of the already occupied sites were pull-thru's with 20-30 ft travel trailers. I wouldn't recommend any large 5th wheels or class A motor homes. It would be a pretty tight fit.
