Each site is paved and many slope back a bit. For the most part they are level. Mature trees shade most sites, but there is no screening between sites. So if you are looking for privacy this may not be the place for you. There is some road noise from I 40 but it not over bearing. You can still hear the crickets and insects at night. The walking path is on the other side of a narrow strip of woods that meanders for two miles. There is a dog park near by too.

Great park! We played golf while we were there. So much to do for everyone. Lots of stores and eating nearby. My husband needed a haircut and was welcomed at Great Clips as a walk in. Yaay for Tanglewood. We will be back!

Arrived later than expected (8pm) but host called us earlier in the day to check in. When we arrived they escorted us to the campsite and assisted us with getting into our spot.
Nice walking trail adjacent to the campground and plenty of food / grocery items nearby.
Would recommend.

Campground is far enough into the park that road noise is not an issue. Adequate shade but no problems with satellite reception. Sites have plenty of space between them. We had the only pull-thru site which is #10. All others are back-in.
The biggest issue is that the sites are not level - several have a SIGNIFICANT decline to them towards the back. We were able to level without much issue for site #10.
Large paved walking/biking trails around the park. Several amenities within the park but are NOT included in your fee. Swimming is available for a reduced fee with your parking pass.
Overall, we would definitely stay here again just be aware of your site selection in regards to leveling.

Tanglewood Park Campground was a real surprise. FHU spacious paved campsites for $38/night! The campground is very close to I-40 near Winston Salem/Greensboro. It is located inside an 1,100 acre county park that was the former home of R.J. Reynolds.
The campsites were wide and asphalt with FHU and spaced nicely apart. Most had large trees for shade. The only negative was that about half of the campsites were so sloped that they would be difficult to level, esp. with a large motorhome. The most level looking campsites were: 1, 2, 7-13, 15-23, 39-40, 42-44. Some of the sites were unlevel enough that I would rate them a 1 for quality, but the level ones were excellent.
There are 2 HUGE fenced dog parks, golf courses, mountain biking trails, walking trails, arboretum, playgrounds, stables, etc. There are some absolutely magnificient, huge trees in the park. They do a drive-through light show around Christmas.
Verizon was mostly good for streaming during the day, but seemed to slow down a bit in the evenings. A booster definitely helped.

Tanglewood is a first class campground that has become one of our favorites. The sites are spacious and have easy access. The setting is quite nice with an abundance of high canopy trees. There’s plenty to do in Tanglewood, a 1,100 acre county park, including horseback riding, golf, tennis, and swimming. The campground feels secluded but it’s convenient to several small restaurants and a top-notch grocery store. There are 3 camp host families on site and you’ll be greeted warmly and shown to your site. The place is immaculate. There is a small restroom on site but each site has full hookups.
We stayed a week and wish we had planned on two!

This is the second time we stayed there. Big sites with big beautiful shade trees. The campground is located in a city park that is beautiful. It has a 4 mile exercise path around a wooded area with mountain bike trails. WiFi was good, and the bathrooms are clean

After lunch yesterday, we decided to check out Tanglewood Park just outside Winston-Salem, North Carolina. It seemed like a good idea on a rainy day with no let up in the precip in the forecast.
To say the 1000+ acre park is beautiful is understatement. We paid an entrance fee of $2.00 and drove around for about 45 minutes just getting a feel for what was available to us. Great waking/biking trails are available. Golf, if that's your thing, including a driving range. Tennis. Swimming. Picnic shelters. Lakes. Music venue. Horseback riding. And an RV park. And Tanglewood offers one of the most beautiful old growth deciduous forests we've come across.
We were scheduled to boondock in Wilkesboro, but after seeing the great venue Tanglewood provides, we decided to check out the RV park there too. I asked my wife if she'd consider staying there if there happened to be a vacancy. I'd tried to book us a week back with no luck, but figured since it was rainy, maybe someone had cancelled.
I was right and so we decided, given the inclement weather, we'd like to be hooked up for the evening to try and keep the humidity at bay.
There's nothing too special about the RV park. The park is, however, among a great stand of beautiful old growth oaks. It's clean and well kept. The hosts are friendly. The shower house clean given the wet conditions. The pads are asphalt. And it's quiet.
But be aware that many of the sites are not level. And not just slightly. Some of the sites will take real work if you want to be level.
While I did not check out all the sites, I can say the row we were on (40's) were all pretty reasonably level and had the benefit of being at the back of the park. Stay away from the lower 30's sites.
My only regret is we weren't able to take advantage of the great park amenities because of the weather.
