This is how a campground should be built, ran and maintained. From the full hookup spaces, which have plenty of room for any size RV, to the spacious tent sites (with electrical hookups at some if not all). The shared spaces, including the playground, pavilion and bath/laundry appeared clean and well maintained (to be honest, we had no need of these, but they looked in good shape when walking by). There is some highway noise, but we rarely noticed it unless we were in the front of the on-site liquor store. We where across the creek from the playground, however, the kids playing there were never overwhelming and we got to see a water ballon fight with kids and parents. Was one of those noises that we have no problem hearing. We will be back here for sure. One other note: We were able to get Starlink with reasonable speeds. Note: the extra $5 per night was for our extra vehicle.

We randomly selected Sugarbush after having an unpleasant exchange by phone with Monarch a little west of here, and we couldn’t have been more delighted by our experience. At first we wondered if we were just so happy to not be at the other place, but as our first two nights unfolded we decided to stay two more!
While you can hear some road noise, it’s not bad at the back of the park where we were, and we couldn’t hear it at all inside our rig.
The grounds are well kept, quaint and well-appointed. A creek flows through, there’s a sweet little gazebo with comfy furniture, full hook ups, fire pits and water at all sites, laundry facilities, WiFi and a little store with beer, wine and other necessities.
Directly across the road is Howard General, a very lovely little general store with great options.

In over 15 years of rving Sugarbush is by far the cleanest, most organized RV park we have ever stayed in. Bathroom room & showers and laundry room were very clean and the dryer was amazing. Cell service was non existent due to sitting in canyon but Lillys Wifi was able to compensate. We will definitely stay again.

This ranks at the top of my favorite private campgounds. Small, well maintained, friendliest and concientous manager (Lilly), family oriented, FHU with clean flush toilettes and showers. And close to Canyon City, Royal Gorge and other attractions. Arkansas River is accessable nearby with rafting and fly fishing. And a bakery with unbelievable fruit-filled sticky buns is right accross the street. We were blessed with about ten littl' kids staying the weekend with their parents, complete with bikes to race down the gentile slope. Everyone had a ball. Quiet hours were stricktly observed. We WILL be back.

Sadly no cell coverage at all on the area, but the campgrounds free wifi definitely takes care most communication needs! The rest rooms /showers were not new, but best of all CLEAN!!! If you are looking for a nice quiet clean campground this one is it!!!!

We stayed at Sugarbush Campground for around 14 days. The hosts, Lily and Jordan, were dedicated to ensuring we had a great experience.
This is not the average RV park / campground where the owners are just trying to make a buck, ask them about their personal story and you'll see that they put their hearts into what they do and that reflects in how the campground operates.
Not a day went by where we didn't see them out maintaining the grounds, keeping the restrooms clean, keeping the laundry area clean, gardening, checking on guests etc... From morning to evening they were on duty.
Restrooms & Showers:
Clean and functional
Laundry:
The washers are pricey, but the dryer makes up for it. They have a huge industrial capacity dryer and you'll only have to dry all of your clothes one time. I'd rather pay a little more upfront to get all of our laundry done in one go, personally.
Atmosphere:
It'd be difficult to find a more relaxing atmosphere at another RV park in the area. Sugarbush has a lot of tall trees and a small stream that creates a tranquil setting. We're picky about where we stay.
Location:
There is a small cafe across the street called The Prickly Pear Lounge, which maintains a shocking level of quality for where it is. The coffee is excellent and their tea is very very high quality.
There is also a U.S. post office across the street. We work from the road so we did make use of it.
The campground is very close to Salida and we drove into town many times throughout our stay.
Cell Service:
Not really usable unless you're own the road headed towards Salida. However, the campground has excellent Wifi and Lily & Jordan wisely have two internet lines running into the park in case one goes out. Streaming videos etc is against the rules, however, if you work from the road you will be able to use Wifi calling and get your work done without any problems, the internet speed is more than adequate.
RV size:
We stayed in a 25ft class C without problems, saw some fairly large 5th wheels at the campground, but if you have a huge rig - definitely call the office and make sure it can be accommodated as it is a fairly small park.

Jordan and Lily are former full timers and purchased this campground a year ago from an aging couple. I stopped here after being off grid for a week and it was the perfect home base for a few days. Their bathrooms and showers are super clean! The little launderette on site has two awesome washers and an incredible commercial dryer. A dishwashing sink with a commercial hand sprayer got my pots, and, and dishes cleaner than they have been in a long time! There is a fresh water creek running through the middle of the campground that soothed me to sleep each night. I took a tent site since I am traveling in a teardrop but their RV sites looked big and spacious. Jordan and Lily are super cool, sweet, informative, and accommodating. A new coffee shop just opened right across the street. It is a gorgeous 13 mile drive to the hip town of Salida for restaurants, music, town exploring, and errand running. I am excited to see what Jordan and Lily do next to this place!
