Still a great spot to stay awhile. Isolated is an understatement. Cows for company lol. Wind can be torturous but still worth it. High clearance is a big plus. Road is good for the first 15 miles but not made for big rigs after that. Best to scout out road before taking a big rig back there.

Beautiful views in every direction! Quiet and secluded. Roads can be a little rough but certainly not impassable. We drove in to 32.47735° N, 109.06920° W, about 13 miles from Hwy US70 driving a 4x4 Ram pulling a 24’ 5th wheel with no problem. Would stay again!

Due to a previous rain the road was a little sketchy in a few parts, but we made it through pulling a 20’ trailer.
Only one other camper, far enough away to barely be able to see them! Lovely area whether you’re a rock hound or not.

We have been RVing for 10+ years and are avid boondockers. This is one of our top boondocking spots because the 360 degree views are amazing, no one else is here, it’s clean, the amount of agates is INSANE, and we feel safe. All of this comes at a small cost. The 12 mile gravel road is wonderful for the first 6.9 miles to the sign in station then the road gets more rugged. Our travel trailer is high clearance but that want really needed. There were 3-4 spots where the ruts or washouts were moderately challenging to navigate but most anyone can do it. The payoff is an amazing spot far away for the outside world except you have great cell data coverage!

This is a great place to go rock hunting for Fire Agate, but just use cation as the road gets extremely rocky and deep ruts. If we do go back I will not pull my trailer past 32.540531, -109.062267 again. There is a BLM sign in that area also to use as a reference to where I would stop. This is a great place to go rock hunting for Fire Agate, but just use cation as the road gets extremely rocky and deep ruts. If we do go back I will not pull my trailer past 32.540531, -109.062267 again. There is a BLM sign in that area also to use as a reference to where I would stop. The mountain is about 5 miles further in and worth taking a 4 x 4 in. Also watch the weather as this area does have several washes and some of the locals that I spoke with say that they have gotten stuck after rains.
Also make sure you have enough water, supplies and fuel before you go.

Great local for open desert, minimal vegetation, quiet stay with nearest RV to use was about a mile away. Quiet, open, beautiful sunsets and sunrises, dark sky and plenty of sunshine. Would not recommend between mid April to late August, unless you love the heat. Road in rough, but take it slow.

A dirt road leads to the Round Mountain, and there are a few fire pits along the road. Agate is found all over the place - perfect for rock hunters. There is a ranch entrance sign that makes it seem like it is a private road, but it is not, it is public. We experienced high temps and snow within 48 hrs, and strong winds, so be prepared. A few day hikers and rock hunters, but not a single other trailer was seen from where we stayed over night. If you like the vast loneliness of the Great Outdoors, this is the place for you!
