Question about Round Mountain Rockhound Area

Jason & Barb

Jason & Barb asked on 12/26/2021

Would this area be accessible by a Class A motorhome with lower clearances? What sort of road surfaces exist? Would a motorhome (unlike a more nimble travel trailer) be able to level? Thanks!

Honestly, I wouldn’t recommend a Class A to go all the way into the campsite on the loop where we stayed 32°28'52.0"N 109°03'46.9"W. The gravel road is nice up to the BLM sign in (which I think is here (32.5476189, -109.0583798)). and there are level spots to boondock but the road starts to get more primitive the rest of the was. We got all the way in with an F150 and a higher clearance Outdoors RV.

No! Don’t do it. Road is not suitable for low clearance and this is not a place that you would want anything to go wrong. It’s a long way from anywhere you could get help and would be very expensive to have help come to you.
