We had the opportunity to stay in both of the open campgrounds on the Natchez Trace. This one (at mile 54) and Jeff Busby (at mile 193). While Rocky Springs is larger and perhaps more spread out, it was also more grungy, more forgotten, and zero cell service on VZW or ATT. We didn't get the chance to enjoy any of the trails or sights but it appears to offer more in this category than Jeff Busby. Our 40' rig appeared to be able to fit in any of the 22 sites. Echoing others; sites not numbered, garbage in fire rings, helped ourselves to the empty camp host dump station on the way out. If we do the Trace again- we'll choose Jeff Busby over Rocky Springs but to the unsuspecting first-timer; nothing is overwhelmingly bad- we'd camp here again, in a pinch.

Stopped here for one night while road tripping with the kids. Bathrooms were still closed due to COVID and there were only 2 other spots being used so there was a lot of space between campers. The back in and pull through spots seemed nice. It clearly had not been used frequently in the last few months. Lots of downed sticks and branches amongst the sites. The sites were plenty large. All had picnic tables, grills, and fire rings. We stayed in a larger group style site. My wife picked up a bunch of garbage other folks had left in the fire ring which was gross but other than that the site was clean. There were folks around mowing lawn, so the sites are being cared for on a basic level. It was a nice wooded area, that we would return to. As other reviewers said, the host site was empty and had septic and water. It was a beautiful drive down the Natchez Trace Parkway. I had to drive about 10 minutes north to get one bar on AT&T. We tried to find firewood on our way in, but there was no one selling in the vicinity, so bring your own.

We spent two nights here on our way up the Natchez Trace. The campground itself is beautiful, although rather neglected. The asphalt pads and roads are in pretty good shape, but it is unusual in that none of the campsites are labeled or numbered. The bathrooms were "closed" because of the Covid lockdown, but the men's room door was unlocked, so I went in to take a look. The bathroom clearly has not been maintained in some time, so trash and toilet paper littered the floor, but the toilets are flush, and fairly nice if they were cleaned up. There are no showers.
Maintenance did come through and pick up trash. There are no rangers or camp hosts, and the host site (first on the right as you enter the campground) is not used. It has sewer and fresh water hookups so we used it to dump, and fill our fresh tank.
Some of the sites are quite long, and many are pull through. Some actually have two parking pads and most are fairly level. There are picnic tables fire rings and barbecues at most of the campsites, although many of the picnic tables could use some new wood. You can hear vehicles driving on the Natchez Trace Parkway, but since commercial trucks aren't allowed, it's not an issue, especially at night.
There is no cell coverage on Verizon. Our cellular router with roof antenna got 4 Mbps down and 250 Kbps up on AT&T.
In mid-May, the gnats are numerous, so be prepared for that. However, with some insect repellent, we didn't have much of a problem with bites. Overall, it's a good stop if you are traveling the Trace.

I recommend the upper sites due to drainage when it rains, but if you need to be close to the bathroom the lower first 5 sites are for you.
Port Gibson (15 miles) is the closest town with gas, laundry, groceries, and couple fast food chains. Town is not as beautiful as Gen. U.S. Grant found it, but in a pinch it will do.
The sunken Trace about 13 miles south of the campground is the best cell reception we found without actually going into port Gibson.

One bathhouse boarded up.
The only bathhouse open has no electricity (i.e. no lights, hand dryers or ventilation fans).
The urinal is still broken in the men's room with caution tape and a black bag covering it up.
Water fountain outside of bathhouse is has now gone missing.
The sites are OK and some nearly level. Mostly back in sites but a few pull-throughs.
We visited this campground on 03/14/19.
