Anyone tried Starlink here yet? Would love to know if it worked, or if there is too much tree interference. Thanks!

They aren’t spaced out very much, but everyone was very quiet. It was a short walk to the bathrooms and the loop had dumpsters for trash. I camped with my dog and there was electric at the site. We hiked the Racoon Trail which was a great little hike, but difficult because I didn’t have snowshoes. The area has beautiful trees and plenty of shade if it is a sunny day. Came back another weekend but didn’t stay overnight because it was too cold. But will definitely be back.

Golden Gate Canyon is an amazing Colorado State Park. It has it all, wildlife, views, trails, fishing...everything the Colorado mountains has to offer right here in the park. Electric-only at the site but there is potable water at the dump station and spaced throughout the loops. The sites are well kept, situated so they don't feel too close to your neighbor, and very clean. This really is an awesome park. My only complaint is the $9 day use fee due at check-in on top of what we already paid to reserve the site. And this is an additional $9 for each day you camp. I had the same thing happen a week earlier at another park and finally realized that all CO state parks have the day use fee for both campers and non-campers and it is not included in the camping fee. When I booked the site on the Colorado park website I ended up paying $36/night. When I arrived there was an additional $9/day use fee that had to be paid. Or we could purchase an annual pass for $80. We are not Coloradans and probably won't get back this year so we opted for the daily rate. I get the need to have a day use fee for the parks. Maintaining these areas (which they do really well) is not cheap and I'm happy to pay that fee for day use. However, I choke a little on paying a day use fee on top of an already pretty strong daily camping rate for a state park. There are lots of National Forest options in the area so I'm not sure I would stay here again for $45/night but the park is very nice.

They have good fresh water at the dump station that is on site not far from the loops. T mobile, ATT and mint mobile have good service. Verizon has no signal unless you drive out to panaroma point. A great vista that overlooks the front ranges tallest peaks.
Paved roads and sites help keep things clean. RVs need to come in from 119 peak to peak highway to avoid 20% grade tight switchbacks on the main gap road.
A $9 per day use fee is not included in your booking fee. Hiking trails are decent. Mountain biking them is very difficult.
We will continue to visit. It’s only an hour from Denver but feels very remote.

Can you fit a 38.5' 5th wheel into these sites? Yes, but you will brush up against the pine tree branches and probably get some scratches. These loops were not built for the newer big trailers, BUT it is doable for sure. I would not be bringing a new 40' diesel pusher or a 43' TH thru here though.
The sites are the pull thru loop style so the length is not really the issue. They are also pretty narrow, and a few sties are on the side of the hill.
Very well maintained, very quiet, great hiking trails in the area. We did the raccoon trail that leaves behind the ranger station. Did it with a toddler on my back, 3.5 miles. Very pretty trail.

We've been camping at Reverends Ridge for at least 15 years because we are locals. We've done tent sites, yurts, cabins, and now usually just the RV sites (E loop is our favorite). Yurts and cabins are very clean and great to stay in. The RV sites are not the most level, so we make sure to have extra leveling blocks on hand just in case (especially C&D loops). The bathhouses are clean and usually well maintained. Laundry, dishwashing, vending machines, and ice are all available as well. The RV sites are just electrical - dump and freshwater are available except during winter. Sites have abundant trees so watch for your slides, awnings, and corners.
*If you do not have a Colorado State Park pass you will need to pay a daily entrance fee for every vehicle you have (ex. a class A towing a Jeep - that's two daily passes), but this allows you to explore the entire state park during your stay.
A few of our tips from over the years:
- There are a few great hikes that begin just behind the office (for kids - stay to the left and wind your way around the hill, once you get to the tent sites head up the hill and you'll discover a historic cabin and nice views)
- You can get two bars of Verizon calling service if you sit in the amphitheater and turn your phone on airplane mode then take it off - otherwise, you're out of luck
- Our AT&T data pack does work well in camp if you need WiFi
- There is free WiFi at the public library down the street if you sit in the parking lot (off Hwy 119)
- The campground is about halfway between Nederland and Black Hawk (gambling town) if you need anything specific, otherwise, the gas station (just past the library) has some last-minute essentials
- For weather forecast check Rollinsville, CO
- The office has a few souvenir items like hats, shirts, stickers, and books
- Peak season does book up 6 months in advance - book early if you can
- Hot summer days are a great time to stay because it's much cooler. Fall is also wonderful to see the leaves.
- Don't trust your GPS to get you here if you're bringing an RV - you need to take Highway 119 to Gap Rd.
- Pre-purchase your state park pass so you don't have to stop for check-in
- Don't attach anything to the trees (like hammocks), you will be asked to remove it
- Also, watch the height of your fire, the rangers will ask you to keep it low

We like to work remote when we can. Verizon was 100% non-existent but AT&T was consistently providing 15Mbps down on our Mobley.
Only complaint, restrooms were a little far and less ideal than other CO state campgrounds we’ve stayed at. However, they were clean.
Would stay again, for sure. Especially for remote work scenario.
Would stay again.

The bad: no Verizon signal at all, which mattered to me because I work from the road and only have Verizon for now, so I had to "commute" about 30 minutes each way just to get a viable signal. This could well be a positive for anyone who really wants to get away and who doesn't have AT&T.
Also, not really negative but just a watch-out: my loop (Loop E) was a bit tricky to navigate with a truck and a 28-foot trailer. There are so many trees that it's something you've really got to watch for. My campsite was a pull-through but due to positioning of the trees I actually had to back out of it to leave, as there was no way my trailer was going to make it pulling out forward. (The pull-through sites in Loop E are U-shaped.) I wouldn't recommend a big rig in this loop, although the other loops aren't quite as treed and pretty, so I highly recommend Loop E if you have something 28 feet or shorter. I wouldn't have wanted to try anything much longer! But then again, I'm a newbie. :)

In the winter there's two loops open in the campground, and one bathroom... but the shower facility near loop D is not open. No wifi. But very clean restroom, and a beautiful state park with tons of trails to hike, snowshoe, or XC ski in the winter. And the loops that are open are well plowed as are the sites. If it wasn't winter, would probably stay somewhere less expensive, but there's not that many options in the state when it comes to winter camping in RV parks or USFS campgrounds.

We booked this campground to be a short drive up to the Rocky Mountain National Park. When we came in (Oct. 11, 2018) there was a bit of snow on the ground and hardly anyone here. This campground closes Oct. 31 and the weather can be iffy. We had perfect weather to visit the Park but we actually got snowed in on one day- but the roads were clear on the day we wanted to leave. The Rangers did a great job checking on us and the other couple of campers to be sure we were safe and warm.
Reverend's Ridge campground is beautiful, large, friendly, spacious and just the kind of park we love- in the middle of nature! They even had a Visitor Center, showers and a nice laundry room with 3 washers and 3 dryers. I can imagine this place is packed in the summer with families enjoying the great outdoors.
There is absolutely zero Verizon cell signal here in the park and no TV via antenna (we do not have a satellite.) We could drive about 5-10 minutes away to the library to get on their free wifi to check messages etc. but no connection in the campground.
Overall we had an awesome stay and would love to come back again.
