We stayed in Site #4 in Sept 2023. Our Power Watchdog notified us during our 1st night that there was a ground fault issue at the power pole, and it burned out our 30/50 Amp Adapter. We notified the owners the next morning. Tito said he would check the power source out. He allowed us to use the power pole on Site #3, which worked fine for our next night. When checking out, we asked the owner if he had checked out Site 4 power source. He said No. We showed him our damaged 30/50 amp adaptor & asked if they could refund us the $ to replace it due to their faulty power source. He replied NO, they are not responsible for our damaged equipment (even though it was caused by their power source, as proven by us having no issues after switching to the pole on Site 3.) He then proceeded to tell us we shouldn’t be staying at 30 amp campgrounds, implying our rig caused the issue. We frequently stay at 30 amp campgrounds & have never had this issue. We emailed all this info to the owner so she could resolve the issue. She never replied. I gave her a chance to do the right thing so I didn’t have to write a negative review. That evidently didn’t matter, so I’m writing this to inform future campers.

The site was beautiful, shaded and right on the river. Loved the campground size and making friends with the sheep. But the best part was how helpful the owners were when we ran into major issues with our truck. Can’t thank them enough for helping us out of a jam

Staff was friendly and attentive to needs. Loved having a small playground on site for the kids. The owners raise sheep on the property across the river which my kids found intriguing. Quiet, relaxing and beautiful location. Also secure with key-coded gate. Close to Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park.
Only drawbacks were there was no cell service (T-mobile) and the sewer dump was a little above-grade. Not a showstopper, we would definitely go back!

This campground was absolutely beautiful. It was like camping at a nice park with a beautiful river running through it. The staff were courteous and helpful. We’re looking forward to coming back here in the future.

The general store staff were friendly and helped us fill up with water. However, the inside of the store is very smoky, to the point of impacting the quality of the goods sold. The regular clientele here are anglers and hunters. However, the creek running behind the grounds and the flock of sheep add a ton of character that our family enjoyed. Cell phone service is non-existent so use it as an excuse to go off grid and leave the work inbox behind.

Wow, we loved our stay here! The RV spots are beautiful and back up to the Cimarron River. It’s on the road, but the river blocks out any road noise. The area is full of trees and birds and makes you feel secluded and peaceful. We especially loved that there was no cell service so we could truly disconnect. The full hook-ups were great, didn’t have cable, but that’s the last thing we cared about.
We’ve heard about the famous pies and had to try one. We bought a blackberry pie, and it was seriously the best pie we’ve ever had, so we went back the next day for another! We will definitely be back, it’s only a 20 minute drive to Black Canyon and also right next to Curecanti, there is so much to do in that area.
Thanks Cydney and Tito for a amazing 5 year anniversary!

ZERO STARS!… INCREDIBLY HORRIBLE experience at within 5 minutes of being there. To begin, they screwed up and thought we were checking in on Tuesday and said we weren’t there and was almost going to give our 5-day site away… we had a reservation for Wednesday. Then on Wednesday when we left Nederland, CO (5+ hours away when towing a camper) were planning to get there around 6 pm, they said the day of via text at 315pm that check in was by 5pm because it was their “night off”. We had to wait an hour in construction on the 50 and arrived literally at 4:59pm. That started their attitude. Then when we finally got unloaded and within 5 minutes, the owners husband came over SCREAMING that we we “messing up his property”… I calmly was asking what are you talking about and he said we damaged the grass and that he spent thousands and how dare we mess up his property (there was zero damage and I have photos and videos of both when we got there and when we left). The only issue with the grass was horse manure. Then proceeded to use extreme profanity in front of me, my wife, 3 year old and 9 year old and telling me to “f**k off”. And telling us how he doesn’t want your Hipcamp kind here, and “I don’t even want Hipcamp, I was just told to use it from a friend” My wife and I both have video of his actions and verbal abuse. I told him I wanted to speak with the owner/lady who checked us in. She was at the office and opened the door and started screaming at me too. I said “come look at the site and tell me the damage you’re talking about.” Her reply, “yeah like I’m going to run over there!!” My reply was then how can you say I did damage if you won’t even go look?? She really got angry then was screaming/cursing to leave… Ok, we’re leaving… He said we have one hour to pack up our s**t and get the f**k off his property.
In twenty plus years of camping all over I have NEVER met someone as rude and insulting and completely without reason.
My next complaints will be filed with the Colorado Parks and Wildlife department and the Colorado of Regulatory Agencies.
I wonder if the 3-4 other campers that were locked out of the main gate, trying to get back to their camp while we were packing up are going to post their experiences.
Save yourself the hassle and stay somewhere else, like Riverbend RV Park in Montrose!!

“Pie Review”
noted 9/2/2020
Everyone raves about their pie. I'm sorry to say I don't agree. We made a stop here specifically to get pie after reading all the great reviews. Unfortunately, our chocolate cream and coconut cream pies were marginal. I expected that this would be excellent homemade pie. But, as a home baker myself, I thought the coconut cream was overly sweet, and not the right texture. I found it to be too airy. Too many shortcuts were taken in the making of this one. It reminded me of a refrigerator pie or box mix. A quick simple recipe anyone can make. My husband's chocolate cream pie didn't have enough chocolate taste. Very bland.
Yes, I'm picky about my pie. My coconut cream pie filling is cooked until bubbling and thickened. I use unsweetened coconut to undercut the sweetness. I must admit, it's a kick a** pie. I think I can only give these pies a 3 out of 5, and that's pushing it. Side note. - the building smelled like cigarette smoke. It's a very old building, and I think the smell has permeated so far into the wood that it will never be the same.
Sorry to put a damper on the pie place! (Am I just a pie snob? Probably)
