You are right on the seashore for $20 or $30 a night (with hookups!!!). Anyone who rates that anything less than a 4 (obviously in my opinion) is a ‘water to wet, beach to sandy’ kind of person. ;—)) we had a pretty severe storm come thru so didn’t even get to the beach and it’s still a 5!!

The restrooms are heated and kept very clean. They have dog poop bags station which are fully stocked. Be careful of the coastal burrs at this time, getting them stuck on the paws can be very painful. Stayed 2 nights as it’s convenient to explore nearby and you go to sleep to the sound of the waves (and nearby toad noise). The WiFi pas... more

Didn’t really need it as we had good T-Mobile signal.

We stayed here for two weeks in November & it was fantastic for our first time to the Outer Banks!
The sites were paved and mostly level with varying lengths depending on site. Our site had water and electric, but other sites had no amenities. Dump station is across the highway at the marina, which was a little odd but not too difficult to deal with. Bathrooms were super clean. Camp hosts were friendly and informative. Shower houses were beach style showers, so a little chilly in the fall but they were clean and easy enough to use. Site angles were a little weird and tight on some sites making initial setup a little difficult on some, but nothing we saw looked impossible.
A short walk to the Atlantic and some fun hiking through sand dunes within the campground. You can charter a fishing trip at the marina across the street. Nags Head has groceries, tourist shops, and lots of restaurants as do Kill Devil Hills and Kitty Hawk further north. Manteo on Roanoke Island also has stores and restaurants, a wonderful aquarium, and a laundry mat that we used. We spent a lot of time at Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge about 20 minutes away from the campground for wildlife viewing & kayaking; if you want to see bears and potentially endangered red wolves, make sure you spend time there!!! We also did the wild horse tour at Corolla Beach & would recommend that!
Everyone local told us summer time is crazy busy, but the fall seems like a really great time to visit based on our experience!

Pads for campers are partially covered with sand but fine to back into. Electric and water. Beautiful views of stars at night. Campground was full but very quiet and peaceful.

So windy at times we could not leave awning out. Beach access by walking from campground. You must drive a short distance on highway to access the ORV ramp or dump station. There was a store near dump station. No gas or restaurants for miles. Campground has bathrooms and showers. Neither is cleaned frequently, but showers did have hot water. Not enough showers, there is often a line. Would be perfect cg if it had sewer and shade.

It’s a somewhat central location to head up to Kitty Hawk or down to Hatteras - which worked for us. We also had an electric/water site so it was a comfortable and inexpensive spot. We were in an outside spot on C loop. Site was large and plenty of space from neighbors.
The disappointment for me was the long long walk to the beach (most people drive on the sand). The trucks on the beach felt a bit busy and less peaceful. The mosquitoes at dusk were annoying - so much so that I didn’t want to sit outside for sunset. (During the day they were fine)
Most of these issues I was aware about before our arrival, but it was a let down compared to Ocracoke.

We stayed in site B16, with no hookups. We have a 25-foot travel trailer and had to park our truck sideways in order to stay off the grass. It was fine for us though. We were right on the dune side by the beach. You still have to climb up over the dunes to see the beach. The bathrooms could use a little updating. The showers are in a stand-alone building with swinging barn style doors on them. There are 3 total. They are clean and have hot water, but you have to pull on a chain the whole time to keep the water running. It was a quiet park, and the staff were very friendly. There are a few sites with electric and water, but they are hard to get. The sites had plenty enough space between them. We have solar and there is no shade, so we did fine. I would definitely stay here again.

This campground is located on the Cape Hatteras National Seashore. It is really, really, really tight. This campground is located on the Cape Hatteras National Seashore. It is really, really, really tight. The campsites are connected by a single lane paved road and the paved sites are just wide enough for the trailers tires. In fact, had their been anyone in the campsite on the other side of us, I doubt we’d have been able to get into or out of our spot. (40' fifth wheel)
Some of the sites are water and electric hookups and some are dry camping. The dump and fresh water is located across Hwy 12 at the Oregon Inlet Fishing Center. Turn right into the fishing center and make the first left. It's at the end of the drive, near the water.
I spoke with the camp host while we were there. He said that there were talks about expanding the campground to fit larger trailers. When it was constructed in the 1960’s, such big trailers did not exist.
There were so many goat heads/stickers and cactus and they stick to everything! We were constantly pulling them out of the RV rug.
Starlink was quite fast at 90 down / 18 up. Verizon on the phone was at 3 bars and both Verizon and AT&T were at 5 bars with the cell antenna.

Yes, you are right next to the beach, which is cool, but after coming from Delaware Seashore Park, which was absolutely amazing, this was a disappointment. Cape Point Campground, closer to Hatteras, is much nicer, although no electric.
Only a few sites have electric here, and they are very strict on even sharing electric, even if no one is using it. That didn’t really bother us, we had our generators and had no issues with that. It was pleasant weather most of the time, so no need for air conditioning. You do get a lot of wind, so be careful with your awning. And you may get blown away on the beach if it’s windy. If it’s not, the beach is very pleasant, but always busy with fisherman. You can buy a week pass for $50 to drive on the beach. Go slow, the rangers are out and will ticket you for going a mile over the speed limit.
The biggest issue is every time you step out of your trailer, you will get 10-12 goat-heads on you. We’re used to prickly things, there are large ones at Lake Pleasant in AZ, but they don’t really hurt you. These little buggers hurt. They are hard to get out (wet your fingers before you try, it usually helps) and even months after we left, we were still finding them in our clothes, shoes, car, etc. Our dog wasn’t happy either.
It was pretty loud the week we were there. I didn’t think the sites were that close together, I’ve seen a lot worse, they were more spacious than most, but with no trees, and the beach, the sound carries and you could hear almost everything.
You go across the street for dumping, although I don’t know how they can regulate non-campers using it. But it wasn’t too crowded when we went and there are a couple of stations.
The bathrooms were clean, but the showers were barely tolerable. They were pretty chilly when we went, so we used our RV.
I wouldn’t want to come back here, I’d rather go down to Hatteras and stay at the Cape Point CG, it’s just a lot more pleasant.

We camped here in November of 2022. We started out in a dry camping site C-8 for 4 or so nights ($14 with senior pass) - it was right up against the dunes, so we had a lot of sand in our site and trailer (courtesy of dog). With rain incoming, we then added several nights in C-19 to have power and water ($21 with senior pass). Then added more nights in C-24. Easy to do on the recreation.gov website. In the off-season, there is no 14 day stay limit! Nice access to the beach, nice ranger & camphosts and lots to see & do within an hour.
There is no privacy between sites (no foliage) and some sites are closer to others, but we loved it.
We did have some noise from the highway and some from the building they were roofing across the street.
Speaking of across the street, best to look on Google Earth to see where the dump station is as it is across the street by the sportfishing boats.
The tent loop and north section of B loop have lot of little stickers which we had to pull out of our dog's paws. No where near as many stickers in the lower end of the C loop. We actually put booties on her when we walked on the dune trails in the B loop.
We would definitely camp here again especially in the off-season!
