It's a bit hard to find the dump station but just follow the signs and drive all the way to the end of the parking lot.
The sites are spaced out and plenty long even for our 42-foot rig, but you have to have at least a couple tires on the gravel and not on the grass for your truck or tow vehicle, so there's not much room for a long rig and a truck. The roads are also very narrow but we didn't have too much trouble navigating around the campground to get to our site.
The reason you come here, of course, is the beach. It's a short 5-minute walk through the dunes to the beach. There are quite a few cars that drive along the beach during the day, but in the evening we basically had the beach to ourselves. And at night we went back and caught several ghost crabs.
We could see the Bodie Island Lighthouse from our window and watched the light blinking as we fell asleep at night. Be sure to go visit the lighthouse and walk the little boardwalk.
We climbed up on our roof to watch the sunset and enjoy the views.

Bathrooms were very clean The shower is a pool chain a bit like luster but does the trick. Bring bug spray the mosquitoes are pretty voracious but once you spray up they don't seem to bother you.

Pros - Great staff, clean, grassy sites, paved rv pad, close to the beach.
Cons - Open showers but closed enough for privacy, bugs (bring bug spray or screened gazebo), backing in your rv could be tight if the sites across from you are already booked.
Dump station across the street in the marina.
Overall great stay as the purpose of this trip is to be on the beach.

The campground is great, the real draw of this campground is the short walk to the beach. Sunsets here are great. The only downside: the bugs, but bring bug spray and you’ll be just fine.

The showers were pull chain and warmed by the sun. Dump station is across the road (left out of the campground, then the first right while keeping to the left side of the area you just entered. ) Not all of the sites have water and electric but finding a vacant site with electric was easy.

Really great set up and location.Close to the fray of Nags Head but a world away. Close the wild beauty of Hatteras Island but with power for AC. Mellow staff and hosts.

Crossing over the dunes to get to the beach in some areas is more difficult than others. I would recommend talking to your camp host if you’re not in good shape. For being summer time on the beach it was pretty quiet and laid back.
