Very noisy; barking dogs, roaring planes, helicopters overhead, and highway noise all interrupted the natural beauty of the forest and shoreline.

This review is focusing on the Big Rig Good Statement in the App. I booked us a site after carefully reviewing Campendium and RVLife, both of who say it is good for Big Rigs. I then went to the State Park Website and looked at the sites as best as it was possible and found a 70’ foot back-in. We are a solid 65’. With car we are 80’ but we know we can park the car somewhere else so anything 65 and above will work.
I then checked Google earth but because of it being heavily wooded I had no sight of the access or turn option.
Let’s not go into to much detail but the fail wasn’t just us not fitting due to very narrow roads with no option to do the turn to back in, plus the site being very narrow with trees on both sides the worst part where the Park Rangers. Other campers came out to try and help while the Park Ranger just sat in his car giving us attitude for being to ‘big’.
I had to manage traffic and guide cars around us while they just sat there watching us. Insane. We finally made it after what seemed like hours and the one advice we got from the 4 Park Rangers that we’re watching in the end was we should just leave and find another campground.
Well, my advice is don’t advertise as Big Rig OK, unless you do think 40’ feet is a big rig but in todays world 40’ feet is medium sized!
And no we are not new to this! We have conversed the US now as full time travels for 20 months and we know how to maneuver our set up but never did we face this. So this is strictly a heads up for anyone that is a true big rig.
It is sad that I have to rely on a FB group now for Big Rigs that actually showed me in the end that Myrtle Beach does not qualify. They got it right and my mistake was not checking with them.
So our trip started out on a sour note. Which of course means nothing in the end and if you are 40 feet or shorter this park should give you a good start from the get go.

The downside was that all park traffic is one-way and so everyone making a circuit around any of the loops would drive past our site. So the road was always busy. Wifi was mostly good in daytime, but slow in the evening. There is a nature center in the CG that features displays and educational programs plus a number of bird feeders that are always well attended. (By birds, not necessarily humans.) Two nature trails through the park, away from the beach, do a good job of explaining the flora and ecology of the area.

Arrival - Pretty good pre-arrival communication via email. Registration was a little confusing as it required you to navigate through a little parking lot to get to the registration shack. Don't screw up like we did and pass the turn in or, you'll be backing up your rig to renegotiate.
Tips - Choose your site wisely based on your needs and your length; our site was a partial and very difficult to get into.
Favorite - Close to the beach.
Negatives - Price for the site. I understand we're close to the beach but, at $72/night the place should be cleaner and better taken care of. Also, there is a posted 2-week stay max that I question on several of the campers near us who look to have taken up residency, plants and all. Not a good location for StarLink. Airport noise was also bothersome. Too many people displaying their political and social beliefs here as well.

The beach is lovely and wasn’t too crowded. The park felt safe, had a nice family vibe, and great bike riding around the loops for my kiddos. 4 stars instead of 5 because the spots are really crammed together and we prefer more privacy. For reference, we are two adults and 4 kids under age 10 traveling in a Wanderlodge PT 40.

a) there is an airport right there so it can become noisy when military plains start/land

Lots of RV stores in the area which we appreciated as it was our first trip in the RV. Did not use any of the facilities but staff was polite. Wood was $9 a bundle. Verizon hot spot was good enough to work remotely and attend video calls. 329 was within an inch of being level and we lucked out with empty sites to the left and right.
