This park is a far cry from the other campgrounds on RT 17. Sites are wooded, and some can be a little tight. But all in all it’s a well run campground. Laundry room has about 6 washers and dryers and was relatively clean.
Cell signal wasn’t great but I was able to work all day.
The best part is the awesome beach. Quiet and not crowded.
We would definitely camp here again.

Great state park campground. If you like the woods and the beach then this is the first and last place to go in Myrtle Beach. I could go on but take my word for it. I personally found nothing to correct or complain about.

Sites are smaller than we like, but it's a high demand park, so it is what it is. Very well maintained with clean bathhouses and grounds.
Lots of traffic at times. Airport is just outside the park, so be prepared to deal with aircraft noise, too.
Park has decent WiFi if you're close enough to the bathhouse.
Very friendly staff.

This campground is a fantastic hideaway in an otherwise busy/loud Myrtle Beach Environment. The campground (not the sites) is on the beach, and there are plenty of quaint, easy trails throughout. We paid half price during the off season. The staff couldn't have been nicer. The sites are fairly close together, without much privacy (more so than most state parks we're used to), but the location on the ocean makes up for it. All the sites had at least electric and water, and some are full hook up. They have super primitive for overflow.

The beach is a good 10-15 min walk from the campground but its a nice walk. There is parking at the pier, which is beautiful and free to walk on, if you don't want to walk. The wifi wasn't great from our site but we did have cell signal. Roads are good and the location and price for being right on the beach is unbeatable!

This was one of the noisiest campgrounds I've camped at due to planes flying overhead including military aircraft and the grounds crew keeping the place up. Though at night all calmed down. I was there around the end of February 2019. Cell signal for both AT&T & Verizon were good. Staff was friendly. Bathrooms were kept up. Showers were adequate.

We stayed at MBSP as part of their winter Snowbird Special - which runs December, January, and February. Prices are half-off, but you have to book a full month. Which isn't a concession - the proximity of this park to the beach is worth every penny of that $14/night (possibly) full-hook-up charge.
MBSP has increased the number of sites with 50A/Water/Sewer, and unlike during our stay in 2017, both of our sites had sewer hook-ups (no sewer buddy excursions - hallelujah!) Not all sites have all amenities, however, so choose carefully based on your needs. All sites with sewer are priced the same - regardless of 50A or 30A.
It was an abnormally rainy month during our stay at Myrtle this year - and the campground showed it. We had our own water feature surrounding our rig several times. The water does drain relatively quickly - once the rain stops. If you're tenting, be prepared if rain is in the forecast - we saw several poor tenting souls have their tents inundated with a pond.
This park's location next to the beach is awesome. The foresting that the campground is nestled in blocks the wind and fosters lots of creatures like brightly colored birds and raccoons and other various trash eating gremlins. But, you can walk to the beach in less than 5 minutes - and at 6am, this is important for not missing the sunrise. The sunrise is amazing from this coastline.
The campground has never gotten 'rowdy' on us during our Snowbird Special stays int eh winter - although it does fill up to near full on NYE. There is always a free (clean, although older) shower and laundry machine for use.
The sites are closer together than in a lot of State Parks - so don't expect privacy. But, there is enough room to grill outside and hang a hammock. You can hear a bit of highway noise, but it's negligible at night - and you can hear the ocean if you listen closely. The sites are all level 'enough', but not overly level at the same time. Bring blocks just in case.
We did have a bit of trouble extending past our month of Snowbird Special - some confusion amongst campground staff - but after a bit, the rangers found in print rules stating something along the line of being able to do a 'round of 30 days snowbird special' + the normal 2 week limit. If you're not Snowbird Specialing, the max stay is 14days. We clearly like it here.

Used Laundry here and it was clean and reasonably priced. Since we were on first loop, we didn’t really see other loops. We were here in early September just before Hurricane Florence was expected to come a shore. So we had to leave at 5 am on our planned departure day, to try and beat some of the traffic at the noon mandatory evacuation time.
Beach was a short walk from our site. Beach was clean and not to crowded this time of year. Park is close to grocery store and Myrtle Beach proper.
