It wasn’t hard to get there, but it was hard to find a spot for our 22f trailer. It was very uneven and very sandy. But quiet é beautiful views.

You don’t find many a juniper / pinyon forest with twenty footers like these ones, which is one of the reasons this place goes bonus in the star ratings. The oversized trees provide much needed shade here in the months that start with J and come after May, or no doubt August into September. We stayed in the same spot as MikeGIdaho, and though a few trucks rolled down the road, an occasional hiker could be heard, and two horses frequented the paradise of a private ranch across the way, it was peaceful quiet heaven in the desert. A heaven hotter than hell, but still.
If you drive the Ridge Road at Colorado National Monument, imagine me having a panic attack on the inner side of the road while smaller cars went flying around the bend.

Camped here on March 21, 2017. Campsite I stayed at was 1/4 mile past the recreation picnic area on the left. Site was appropriate for up to 20' rig, but was not level. I had a hard time finding a spot level enough where I could level with blocks. Once situated though, the campsite was ideal. Situated right below the Miracle Rock cliffs, the view was spectacular, especially when sunset illuminated the cliffside.
Site had a small stone fire ring.
Be aware that there is quite a bit of broken glass around the site. If not for the trash and broken glass, this would have been an absolutely perfect spot.
While I was there I did see one conversion van camping in the picnic area. The BLM website does not explicitly prohibit camping in the picnic area, but I am not sure of the rules.
No mobile coverage on Verizon or AT&T.
