Overview of Manzanita Lake Campground
Manzanita Lake Campground is open May through snow closure. Campsites can be reserved May - Oct. Reservations must be made at least four days in advance. Sites without a reservation placard may be used for first-come, first-served camping for a single night only; a reservation may begin the following day. All sites are first-come, first-served at a reduced dry camping rate (no drinking water) after the reservation period.
Sites can accommodate RVs up to 40 ft. in length.

We finally made it to Lassen NP! We stayed here for 2 nights in early October of 2024. Price reflects our senior discount. Dry camping, but a decent sized pull-thru. Boondocking is OK, but rather limiting. Overall, was a nice spot. Close to restrooms and trash dump. Wife and I each had zero AT&T cell service. Lots of smoke from nearly campers' fires morning and evening which bothered my wife quite a bit. The question "Would you camp here again?" is a quialified "yes" as I the experience was "ok... more

We camped here at the end of September, during our visit snow accumulated at the higher elevations in the Park providing great hikes and magnificent views of the mountains. We camped here at the end of September, during our visit snow accumulated at the higher elevations in the Park providing great hikes and magnificent views of the mountains. Our rate of $13.00 per night reflects the Senior Pass discount. The campground drive and campsite pad are paved, the site included table, fire ring, and bear box. Water, trash containers, and restrooms were nearby, the shower facility is located at the campground store, showers were $5.00. The laundry facility is also located at the campground store. We enjoyed our time at the campground and the many fascinating features of the National Park, we would definitely return again.

This was our second visit here. This place is lovely. Bring your kayaks for a nice paddle on the lake. Lots of hikng trails on the mountain. Take the hike to Paradise Meadow. Best access to the campground is from the north via highway 44. Not a good idea to take your rig over the mountain.

We stayed in site A10 for 5 nights around July 4th in a 16' Basecamp. The campground was less than 3/4 full the whole time. The sites are large and well separated. We stayed in site A10 for 5 nights around July 4th in a 16' Basecamp. The campground was less than 3/4 full the whole time. The sites are large and well separated. The $13 rate includes the NPS 50% senior discount. Most of the sites are shaded among tall pines, some deep all day shade, some morning, and some afternoon. A few have all day sun. We did not bring our generator, expecting our roof solar to keep the batteries charged. But we had deep all day shade and had to sit in the visitor center parking lot for a couple hours on our third day. The whole campground, all loops, has a slight south to north slope - higher towards Lassen and lower towards the lake. It can be hard to level, especially with a side to side slope. All that said, we had a very nice stay and will go again.
We walked around looking for sites with less slope. Judging just by eye:

B: 2, 16, 37, 46
C: 1, 11, 15, 21, 28, 41, 44

Perfect location for exploring the park. Bathrooms were ok, but no lights. Dump station/water station is fee -$8. Our site was not even close to level BUT it was a stunningly gorgeous place.

I wish I would have known about the showers, I would have just paid for a shower and then camped at a free site just outside the park. It’s a good campground overall but definitely overpriced and very crowded. I had absolutely no cell service with Verizon

I traveled to Manzanita Lake in a 35’ 5th wheel and parked in two spots – C29, a pull through that I ended up backing into to be better positioned to get sun on my solar panels, and A11, a back in spot. I traveled to Manzanita Lake in a 35’ 5th wheel and parked in two spots – C29, a pull through that I ended up backing into to be better positioned to get sun on my solar panels, and A11, a back in spot. Many of the pull through spaces were crescent shaped with tight curves which made it hard for larger rigs to get around them so backing in was a better approach. I really liked this campground. The sites were spacious and there were pockets of sun among the trees so I could also deploy my solar panel to keep my batteries from going too far down. Lots of restrooms around so you don’t have far to walk to get to one. They were pretty clean given the number of campers that were there. They are showing their age and could use some sprucing up, but the water was hot and pressure was good. The interior asphalt roads were a bit tight in places, but going slow made it a non-issue even with a rig of my size. Sites were also asphalt and had a picnic table and fire ring. No cell, OTA or wifi. The camp hosts, Carla and Walt were spectacular. They really helped me out with a problem I created so I was able to extend my stay there. There is a laundry facility by the store at the entrance to the CG. Washers were $2.75 and dryers were $2.00. A two slot dump station was available with potable water, but one of the water spigots was broken. Other, non-threaded water spigots were available inside the campground loops. It was an easy walk to the lake and there were a couple trails right there. Overall, it was a fantastic stay. Plus, at $13 a night with my Sr Pass it is a great deal!
