Bathrooms were clean, showers were $5 for the day (they give you a door code), there's a gas station at the campground store (87 octane only / no diesel), and a cash only jumpstation ($8).
The stars are incredible and though the campground was full for the 4th, the campground never seemed over crowded.
We loved the park and will make this a repeat destination.
No cell or wifi at Manzanita Lake- you can get some cell around Bumpass Hell parking lot and intermittent wifi down at the main visitor's center.

The campground is nice. Some pull-through sites are too tight; we stayed in one for one night. We also saw a lot of people struggle with those sites. If you get such a site, go to the front and back in; that seemed to be the right formula that worked for most people in tight spots. There is a camp store there which is very well stocked. It has a fast-food place with a limited menu, but it was good. There are also paid showers here. There are flush toilets.
The Manzanita Lake is a short drive or even walkable distance. It's a great little lake for kayaking, paddleboarding, etc. The temperatures were much cooler here.

The campground is nice, the lake is absolutely lovely for kayaking or paddleboarding. It's small and there aren't motorized boats so it's a peaceful experience. I think they have kayaks for rent. The trail around the lake is a nice short walk.
it's a bit of a drive to the visitor center and most of the sights of Lassen itself so be prepared to drive 30-45 minutes. There are some trails nearby but most is farther down the road towards the visitor center.
They have gasoline and a robustly stocked general store.

The park was still covered with snow but the warm sunny day let us toasty. This is a gem of a park in the network of national parks.

It looked as though during their peak season, you would have fresh water and a dump station available. The location of this campground is great if you plan to go swimming or kayaking at the lake. It also provided easy access for checking out hiking trails throughout the park. We highly recommend this park and will return again!

This site was a really cool visit. We have been to Lassen Park many times but never at the Manzanita Campground. The camp was full but still quiet in the evenings. The pull through locations are much better suited for a camper since it was difficult to park 2 cars and a trailer on the site.

We camped here 3 nights midweek with a reservation. It pretty much filled up every night. At the time, loops B and D were first come first served. Sites are paved but not all were level.
It would be a tight squeeze if we were to bring our 38’ 5th wheel. Some sights can accommodate big rigs, local knowledge of the loops would be helpful.
Prepare to pay $8 to use the dump station.
We did all 3 hikes originating from the campground and found cell service on each hike. We enjoyed the soft serve ice cream at the park store too!

I'm not sure if this campground is so great but being in this park makes up for the lack of privacy. Generally sites are surrounded by some trees, if you get a spot on the outer part of a loop you may have more privacy on the side away from the other folks. But if you are situated in the inner ring, you will be seeing and hearing everything your neighbors do. Mine were quite noisy which was annoying, but the park is so wonderful I barely noticed. However the campground was often EXTREMELY smokey due to the many many campfires seemingly burning all day long. And one neighbor was apparently often burning random trash and it smelled horrid.
There are decent restrooms and water spigots with wastewater dump stations. Each campsite has a bear box. Down by the lake there is a store, cabins, showers and even laundry! Woohooo! Oh and gas for your car. And the price was normal!
Manzanita Lake is wonderful to stroll around or even better bring your boat and head out onto its glassy surface. The area is teeming with wildlife: deer, all kinds of birds.
This park is just gorgeous. I liked Manzanita Lake but next time I might camp at Summit Lake just because the campground is smaller and hopefully a bit less smokey and noisy. But I would say both lakes are equally lovely.
