The sites at this well maintained and beautiful campground are spacious and large. We were only there two nights (visiting friends at SIL) and saw a plethora of bird and a full coyote. Wish we could stay longer. Had a nice 2 + mile bike ride around the entire campground.

Nice location, close to stores and restaurants
This is a large county park with many campsites, including RV, tent, Equestrian. We stayed in site 60 this trip. It's on the lake, Great spot with woods on one side. We didn't have anyone nearby but this is February. Sites are spacious on this loop and have lots of trees and great lake views. Sites are paved, mostly level and have water and electric. There's a nice covered picnic table, BBQ and fire pit. The park has boating, fishing, hiking, biking, and Equestrian trails, playgrounds, picnic areas and swim beach.
Things I didn't like-
-Price - paid $40 per night plus there's a daily vehicle fee of $20 per vehicle per day. Seniors pay $5 per vehicle. Too expensive!
-No security gate into the park. It is occasionally patrolled
- The bathrooms and showers are terrible. They are hosed down so they were clean. We checked out six different ones and they went from bad to terrible. The water in the showers was luke warm one day and cold the next. There was just a narrow stream of water. The showers closest to our site were the only ones that we found that were handicap accessible. The other five we looked at the showers were co-located in restroom, the shower stalls were small and you had to repeatedly push shower faucet to get water.
- No laundry facilities

Sites are far enough apart, and easy to book one that is closed in with trees to get the true feel of wilderness camping close to home. Lots of trees and normally pretty quiet. If you really want quiet, book in the equestrian part of the park as it is further away from the hustle.
You want to book well in advance in the summer and easy site to book directly from a map. Last minute, check Thursday and Friday morning when cancelations come in. Far better than the State park across the lake.

There are over 200 sites here from tent to FHU for Class A RVs. The sites are large and not close together. Many are nestled in the trees, although ours wasn’t. We were in site A001. I had a horrible time booking the site. I had to create an account. The I could only choose the type of site I wanted, but not the site itself. I didn’t like that, but since the site was only $30, I didn’t worry about it. However, when we got to the park, we had to pay a $10 per day fee for the truck. I didn’t see that anywhere on the website. But it is what it is so we paid it. Our site was great, but we had no wifi. We were too far away from the front of the campground. I didn’t like that I couldn’t choose my site and was just assigned one. I’m sure there’s a way to pick your own site. I would definitely stay here again.

The spots have lots of room between each other and lots of trees and greenery. The staff was nice but did not let our Uber come back to get us so we had to walk the mile 1/2 to the gate. Minutes from town and east to find.

We wanted to reserve for one night at this campground, but were unable to do so online. I called and was told that I could just come to the gate for a one night reservation. I had read before about a Class A being charged an extra $10 a day for the toad. I thought it was weird, but it is an extra vehicle, technically. When we arrived the person in the office charged an extra $10 for the truck that is towing our fifth wheel! I had never heard of that in our years of camping. I was told that is the case unless we’re seniors. I affirmed my husband was a senior, over the age of 65. She replied something to the effect of “this is not IHOP wear where you walk in for your birthday everybody else gets a free meal too.” I responded that the birthday person does. She either didn’t hear me or refused to answer. I was tired and ready to camp for the night so I let it go. But it did leave a sour taste, and we won’t be back.

Overall the park is beautiful, close to everything
The extra $10 charge daily for tow vehicle is misleading from website registration
My rates include Good Sam's discount applied.
Price on website is misleading. When you select your date range, it says per day, but that is your actual total.

The greenery was a welcome sight after our days in Houston and Austin. This is a very spacious City park. Their website was a little challenging to find the 50 amp sites, but staff was very friendly and helpful to book and then modify our reservation as our plans changed. Not sure we’ve ever had a campground site that has this much room between us and others unless it was boondocking! (Note all sites were this spacious.). All picnic tables are covered and many folks had lights strung up around the inside of the pavilion. The only way we knew we were near a big city was the large power lines in the distance as we overlooked the lake. This site was a little low in the rear but we were able to level easily. Nicely shaded and nice green space down to the lake. There was a little trash around (I’m sure the wind makes this a constant challenge), but otherwise seemed well kept. We pulled out on a Sunday morning and were pleasantly surprised that we did not have to wait to dump or feel like we were holding anyone else up. The Park was packed with family gatherings on Saturday, but we were able to use a day use pavilion parking area to hook up the toad as we left. Easy on/off Toll Road 360.

We stayed in the new “glamping” yurt and it was a terrible experience. It’s made for 2 people, but when I called saying there’s a group of 4 girls they made it seem like the priority is no parties and respecting the campground, so basically just stay within those means. We definitely weren’t there to party, in fact, we all had work we needed to do. It’s a glamping experience, you would think a group of girls would be their target market, yet the whole time we were there they made it clear we were not welcome. They literally told us they only want couples staying there, so we were already super uncomfortable during our stay.
Next, there was no WiFi even though they clearly advertise WiFi. We specifically chose a place with WiFi so we could do some work. When we told them, they insinuated that we stole the router…why would we steal a router??! I think they never had one in the first place. They also never installed one while we were there, so I still think there is no router there and no WiFi and they don’t plan on putting one in. They tried to make up for it by giving us a key to a WiFi area, but then we ended up spending our entire vacation in the WiFi area and not the yurt. They told us they would “obviously give us a discount” the first day, and then refused to give us one the last day. We were trying to be flexible with them but they treated us so rudely and like we were so unwelcome, it was genuinely the worst park experience I’ve ever had.
On top of that, there are bugs that burrow in the wood at the yurt and you can hear them crunching all night, and every morning there was sawdust all over the floor and tables and our bags from their chewing. We told the park about it and they said they know, and pretty much deal with it because we are in nature. I know we are, but don’t try to sell a glamping experience for $250 a night and also tell us to deal with the burrowing beetles while treating us unkindly and falsely advertise WiFi and expect us not to feel mistreated and misled.
Their response to us bringing up the previously promised refund was that there are not supposed to be 4 people so they won’t discount us. Well, they were being very ambiguous about it when we asked about the situation so it honestly felt like it was okay, and when we told them that they asked who we talked to in order to target the employee. It was so awkward and unkind and I felt such a terrible vibe from the management. It was also so weird because they knew there were 4 people staying there since day 1, it’s not like it was a surprise to them. I feel like they just wanted our money and felt entitled to treat us badly.
I’m just honestly so shocked at how we were treated, I genuinely never want to go there again and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Even if the park is pretty, knowing I’m supporting such unkind people feels wrong. Accusing us of possibly taking the router was so uncomfortable, I wonder if they would have done that to other people who stayed there or if it was them profiling our age and race. I don’t want to make assumptions so I’ll leave it at that, but I do want to mention it because that is how I truly felt.
There are other places in Texas to go where people actually want you to enjoy the park, not use you for money.
