We checked this camp ground out,so that we could Kayak. The Pine Beetle has killed off most of the Pine trees in this park. We decided to stay Wilcox camp ground and take the Kayak to Bow Lake.

Honeymoon Lake campground is located in the forest along the Icefield Hwy south of Jasper. In this area there is a lot of beetle kill in the forest so it's kind of dead and dismal. The first loop (sites 1-20) is in the forest and sites generally have good spacing and some screening from neighbors with trees and vegetation. The second loop (21-36) also includes the Day Use Area and so has a lot of traffic and activity from that. These sites are more in the open and generally very close together; the ones in the middle of this loop are little more than a parking place with a picnic table and fire ring -- uncomfortably close to neighbors. The vault toilets are ok. Water available. Firewood (fee). There is lake access at the Day Use area. The lake was warm enough for swimming, canoeing, paddleboarding. Nice views of mountains from the lake. This is the only point at which to access the lake; there are no trails. Fills up quickly late afternoon, evening. Fee $26 CDN in July 2022. The fee seemed kind of high for the medium quality of the campground.

Honeymoon Lake is not fed by melting glaciers so it was warm enough to swim in July. It is not a large lake, but is large enough for a brief paddle in a kayak or canoe and is perfect for floating in a blow up boat or inner tube.
Along the water the campground has a beautiful mountain view. There are not any hiking trails accessible immediately from the campground.
All of the parks in Jasper have an 8.80 fire permit fee on top of the campground fee. The permit comes with all the firewood you can burn.
Access to the campground was easy and was directly off Icefields Parkway on a short paved road.
There are two pit toilets which were relatively clean. The campground was full while we were there and we did not experience a wait for the bathroom in the morning. There is also easy access to dumpsters and a fresh water tank to fill water bottles.
There were not many mosquitoes, but there were a lot of gnats.
There is no cell phone coverage at the campground. It took a drive of about 20 minutes north toward Jasper to obtain any cell coverage.
