“Clean and Quiet”

We arrived Friday afternoon around 5:30 PM. There were still very good sites along the beach (right down on the sand, 50 or so feet from the water). At the gate, there is a sign with the area rules. There is also a self serve envelope (with a secure drop off slot) that lets you pay for the campsite ($8) and the daily park entry fee ($8 for non-Nebraska licensed vehicles, or $6 for Nebraska licensed vehicles.)

We opted NOT to stay on the beach, only because we like quiet and solitude. Instead we chose a spot on the opposite side of the road (almost right across from the boat launch road) on a small little peninsula. Served our needs perfectly.

Seems like the birds sing all day long and into the night.

“This is the Sutherland Recreation Area Hershey Beach Area”

It's about 3.3 miles of dirt.
The dirt roads are decent but a little wash boarded. It's not terrible but I would be driving very slowly with my rig. It's a nice area with access for all size rigs with a large loop at the boat launch area. There is room to stop on the main trail and check out the off shoot trails to see if you can access them.

Fuel, party store at the expressway.
They list it as a swimming area but after seeing the number of birds in it I wouldn't go in.
$8.00 per night plus the Nebraska access permit which is $5.00 per day or $26.00 annual and available on line or at concessions.

It says park 50 feet from the water so some rigs may be able to park at the edge of the beach area.
