First of all great views and clean. Double the price for none residents and if you’re towing an extra vehicle it’s 7 more dollars per day.

Fantastic campground! We were lucky enough to have a full hook up site (only 8 in entire place). The dump station has been closed for three years and, according to a park employee, will continue to be closed for a LONG time. Bathrooms and showers are all very clean.
Tons of park programs that are interesting for both kids and adults: bird walk, wildflower walk, insect walk, bear awareness, yoga, intro to kayaking, etc. Kayaks are also free to use!
Can be very windy at times and it comes unexpectedly. Definitely be nearby when you have your awning out!
Lots of wildlife viewing! Tons of birds, including swans and pelicans, moose, prong horns, ground squirrels, etc. Also, very easy to get to Yellowstone!

Large level paved sites. We only had water and electric but a few have sewer. The dump station was closed but we had prior notice so came in empty and used Henrys Fork Dump Station just down US 20 a few miles.
Shower and bathrooms were clean and fairly new.

Awesome campground but pricey for a State Park @ $70.00 with no discounts for Seniors or Vets (out of state). Campsite has 30/50 amp service, water no sewer. Great view of the lake and mountains - super quiet, clean and paved campground including sites. Super clean and updated nicely with walking trails. Near this park there is forest land, we saw many campers on the lake or in the woods not far from the road so there are other free options.
We had Verizon cell coverage fine as well as AT&T streaming data not a problem.

Early arrival ok, We stayed in early June at site near lake. The winter flies were unbearable. They don't bite, but make any outside activities difficult. The plus for the park is the access to YNP, other than that it's a fisherman's park . We did see a grizzly bear walking near lake early in the am . Cell signal very spotty and weak (... more

Loved our stay. Dump station is closed which makes things difficult but we are managing with electric and water. If you are a bird watcher this is the place for you. But the wind can be a beast

The park is extremely well maintained by a dedicated cadre of volunteers and one fulltime ranger. I stayed here last year as a park volunteer. We enjoyed it so much that we're coming back for another extended stay. One of the things that impressed me most was how nearly every guest that stayed here was very conscientious about leaving the site in pristine condition. Park volunteers clean each site when it is vacated. The shower houses are heated and provide plenty of hot water. Boondockers often come through and pay a day use fee to use them as well.
If you love to fish, this lake is the place to be. Whether your an innertuber, boater or shore fisherman, you're almost assured of a good catch. The lake does have leaches, so swimming and wading without waders is not advised.
The ONLY downside to this park is the dump station is out of service and will likely be out of service for the foreseeable future. Paid dump stations are about 20 minutes away. All of this is offset by the proximity to Yellowstone National Park, nearby boondocking availability and the friendliness of the park ranger and volunteers that pretty much run the park.
Most sites are pretty level, however some sites in the Caddis Campground have some fairly steep (but doable) inclines, so be prepared for the possibility of inclines front to back of your rig. This is the only reason that I rated the site quality 4 stars instead of 5. Left to right, the sites are pretty level. All are fully paved with fire rings. 90% of the sites are fantastic.
Moose wandered through the park during the late summer and early fall pretty consistently. If you have never seen a moose up close and personal, it's quite the sight, just give them the space. They're amazing but often ill-tempered animals especially when rutting.
If you camp here in the late season, bring a heated water hose. In 2021, we had freezing temps during the last two weeks that the park was open for reservations and more than one camper had damage from frozen plumbing.
In summary, Henrys Lake is a must stop for anyone doing Yellowstone that doesn't have a reservation inside of the park. There's a lot to see and do in the surrounding area outside of the park and the town of West Yellowstone has plenty of eateries to please the discriminating foodie.
Check-in is 2pm, but you if you reserved a site and it is vacant, the kiosk volunteer will admit you immediately. Otherwise, you may have to park over in overflow until your site is vacant and has been serviced by one of the many volunteers. Henrys Lake is one of the most popular of Idaho's state parks, so reservations are strongly advised.
AT&T and Verizon had excellent coverage in the park. T-Mobile had plenty of "5G" service, but realistically, only voice and text worked consistently in 2021. T-Mobile customer service said that tower was being upgraded, but as of October 2021, service was very unreliable.

After being in traffic all day in the parks, it was fantastic to land at Henrys Lake, which was quiet and peaceful. Park was less than a quarter full. Beth at the park entrance booth was one of our trip highlights! The bathrooms were spotless and kept warm at night. We’ll be back!
