“Awesome Off Grid Getaway!”

Overall Rating

If you are visiting Mojave National Preserve and want a great off grid experience this is it. The campground has 7-8 campsites with fire rings backed up to a granite mountainside. It’s best for a rooftop camper or tents, but I pulled my 17ft trailer to site #3 with no problem. The recent rains have made sites 5-8 hard to get to without 4-wheel drive but sites 1-4 are easily accessible. There is a cell tower across Kelbaker Road from the campsites, but only sites 1-3 have 4 bars, then it drops to 2 or no cell once you go behind the hillside. With my cell booster in site #3 I had full 5G and data for streaming. The campsite is easy access base camp for the whole west side of the Preserve. If you can’t get a spot at Kelbaker Boulders, this is your place!
