Uneven lots, grass above your ankles, this facility needs a lot of work. The staff is friendly. Next year we will look for a better campground!

Our site was at the end of a loop and we felt we were alone with the exception of an occasional camper walking by with his/her dog. At night we fell asleep to a symphony of frogs. The office staff was very friendly. The loop roads are a bit rough. I would suggest removing weight distribution/anti-sway before entering the grounds.

The sites are group oriented. The power poles are shared so if you need dedicated power, be there early or maybe look elsewhere.
The sites are large and very flat. We didn’t need any leveling blocks.
We don’t typically stay in rv parks unless we need a dump and fill and this place has the amenities. Clean showers and restrooms. Fire pits at most sites. Nice dump. And dumpsters.
The sites are not private. It’s better than a parking lot with some trees but ultimately it would be best if two campers going together got adjoining sites.
There is a fishing lake and some games around the site. Ultimately a good place to stop if you have kids and want a LARGE site.
Based on the prices of near by sites, this place is a steal if you are dropping your trailer or class a and taking your tow vehicle out. So much to see near by.
Some road and airplane noise but nothing like being at a Cracker Barrel for the night.
Not a go-to kinda place for us living vanlife off the grid, but still a great spot.

The good points: Dark and quiet at night, deer walking through in the evening. Close enough to Ft Carson to hear Taps played at night. Friendly, informative staff who frequently drove through the campground to address any issues and enforce their rules.
The not so good points: Expensive for the quality of the site. The campground is poorly designed in terms of slope, drainage, angle of entry, width of sites and placement of utilities and amenities. Sites are very unlevel with slopes into and/or out of the site. It was difficult to maneuver around the boulder at the back and avoid the trees between sites. We had a lot of rain during our stay that turned most of the roads and parking sites into a slippery, rutted mess. The sewer line was a broken PVC pipe covered with a heavy metal cap stamped Water rather than the usual threaded cap. The water spigot was at ground level on a slope so it was covered in mud after the rain. Electric pedestals are shared but the pull through sites do not face opposite directions to allow sharing utilities in the common space between. As a result, one of the sites will have sewer and water on the driver side but electric on the opposite side. Ours was on the correct side but still required 2 lengths of 30 amp cord to reach the pedestal in the neighboring site. The neighbor also required 2 lengths of electric cord because the pedestal was on the wrong side. Really poor design!
It would also be helpful if Golden Eagle’s website included their rules for review prior to making a reservation. No concerns for us, but the family that packed up and brought in battery-operated ride on toys for their kids probably would have liked to know in advance that they are prohibited.

Our first visit in our RV. A great family experience. Even though the lake was low, our daughter caught her first fish on her first fishing expedition.

In short, skip this place unless you are REALLY desperate. We were looking for a place near Colorado Springs and the state park nearby was full. Tried to make this place work. Paid for one night but packed up and left after sitting around and absorbing the evening “ambiance.” Most of the “RVs” were run-down permanent homes. There were scary dogs and shady people; we did not feel comfortable at all. The final straw was when we observed one of the “residents” making what appeared to be his nightly rummage through the dumpsters. In short, not exactly a vacation destination.
