Loved this site - in the forest with Pygmy nuthatches in the ponderosa pines. Flat sites with ample space. No other trailers in eyesight although a few scattered about further in. No facilities. Quiet. Close to Jacob’s Lake and access to north rim and also close to condor viewing area and release site.

Great place, about a half mile in on the hill. Big area, not many people. Quiet.

We arrived after dark with fires in the area. There were enough campers in the area to feel secure. Great spot to stay on your way to the north rim

Lovely area on the north side of 89A FR 225 went up the hill less that 1/4 mile to a flat area which was secluded from road traffic. Vary quiet nite.

Accessed FR 225 dispersed area from 89A. The first 1/4 mile was very rutted dirt but smoothed out after that. After a heavy rain this road could be pretty messy. Found a solitary, peaceful campsite about half a mile in. Utterly quiet but for the breeze in the pines. Could neither see nor hear any other campers. Would definitely come back. [Note: Was told later that FR 225 can be accessed from the south via two other FR roads and that the access road is not as rough]. Verizon here was very good--at least 3 bars.

This was a great site to camp. The turn off was easy to find, and the roads were very reasonable, although, to be fair they were dry at the time. Pull through sites were available, and I stayed in one about a mile back from the turnoff. There were lots of trees and a pretty view, with minimal traffic on the road. There were deer close to the campsite both nights I stayed there. The location is only about an hour from the north rim of the Grand Canyon entrance, and the turn off is less than 5 minutes from the Jacob Lake gas station with a convenience store and some food available.

If you live off Solar like we do you’ll need to do a lot of scouting to find adequate sites in this North Rim area. Many of the NF sites are in the trees and would get less than an hour of power. We found NF-225 Extremely rutted from summer rains and found more suitable sites especially for solar across the hwy. on NF-257. Upon exiting the hwy to the north for 257, take the right fork and go about 300 yards to the cattle guard and take a right along the fence to find 3-4 adequate solar sites. Our site: 36.7353520 -112.1696722 was the last of the sites before the cattle fence. Not a great road but doable.
Upon further ‘scouting’ we found NF- 247 just a bit West was good road and had multiple sites in an open meadow that would be great for solar. A bit ‘undeveloped’ there were stone fire rings and good access from road just needed more ‘use’ by campers like us.
The forest service is doing a Lot of thinning and clearing, especially on NF-257 past the cattle guard, making for some Excellent opportunities for us boondockers to ‘develop’ some very good camping sites for the future. I would predict that NF-247 & 257 may become the best camping in this area in the future. I would add them as separate areas on Campendium but don’t know how in the app.

We stayed there mid-June, on the road to Zion National Park. It was a very convenient place, we were alone, it's really flat, and there is a fire pit made with rocks. We can hear the road, but there was not so much traffic. Dark was really good and stars incredible. Good spot!
