Otherwise I great place to visit. Well maintained park. Great cellular.

Full hookups were $35 or electric/water sites were $33. Bathrooms are clean and private, with toilet, sink and shower in each room. Boat ramp and docks on lake - perfect for fishing and kayaking. Camp hosts and plenty of park staff keep this park in top notch shape. Gravel trail around lake is perfect for hiking and bike riding. The only drawback is that many of the sites are doubles, which means you share a cement pad with your neighbor. That would be fine if you are camping with friends or family but a little too cozy for if not. We were lucky enough to have single sites so we had plenty of privacy, peace and quiet. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Plenty of trails to hike, fish in the lake, and cleaner air that just about anywhere in AZ. Definitely a jewel in the AZ state parks system.

Very happy with this campground. The State of Arizona runs this facility and it is very well kept.
For larger rigs, I would recommend Mallard 09 and Redhead 10/11

Other reviewers did a great job in describing the park. The only weird thing was that many of the sites are double sites, like the concrete pads touch each other. So be aware if you are reserving ahead of time. We had no problem getting a site arriving mid week in March without reservations. The sites are assigned as you enter.
These are the best view sites if you can get them: Mallard Loop #9; Red Head #12; Ruddy Duck #3, 6, 7, 8; Cinnamon Teal #19

Nice and clean. All roads and sites are concrete. We stayed there mid March 2017. High 70s during the day and mid 30s during the night. Our site had water and electric but no sewer. The dump station was closed due to freezing temps but they allowed us to dump at a nearby full hook up site. The lake was a short walk away. At our site there was steep drop offs close by, that you need to watch the kids closely. The sites are really close together on our loop but it didn't feel overcrowded due to the vegetation between sites. On our loop, most sites are double sites. If a stranger would have camped in the spot adjoined to ours, it would have been uncomfortable. We ended up reserving and paying for both spots, 17 and 18. After being there, we noticed the park wasn't full and don't think anybody would have tried to camp in the spot connected to ours. The surrounding area was a lot more wooded than the park itself.

Fool Hollow will always hold a special place in our hearts as it was the first place we camped ever as a married couple or in The Gump. Just outside the picturesque town of Show Low, AZ it is the perfect get away from the heat of Arizona.
We stayed for two weeks at the end of December 2015 through early January 2016 and another two weeks from the end of January through the beginning of February 2016. Snow, wind, tall pines, frozen lake, wildlife, and quiet. Each trip we were the only people there other than the occasional overnighter. The rangers at the park are friendly and helpful. They will accept package delivery, if they are in the office they even delivered the package to our campsite of their own volition.
We stayed in the Redhead Loop which is the only loop open in winter. Spots were well maintained, clean, and never lost power. Rangers are good about monitoring trees that need to come down in case the wind is blowing to ensure that trees don't come crashing through rigs in the middle of the night.
The dogs loved playing in the snow and walking along the lake shore. Pickles loved sitting out on the patio talking to the birds and squirrels on the days it was warm enough to let him do so. Leo was incredibly fascinated by all the wildlife passing by the windows, although he wasn't too keen on getting his paws in the snow.
We haven't been back since spring has sprung but this is a state park we will return to without hesitation. Especially since the lake is stocked and the fishing is supposed to be excellent.

After a blown tire, damaged tail pipe & my outside plumbing destroyed by the blown tire, I finally made it to fool hollow. James is so helpful & good at what he does. But don't be Hispanic & run into Ranger bigot Ray. I accidentaly went the wrong way as did my white neighbor. I was 2" on the dirt, while my white neighbor had his truck 1/2 of it on the dirt.. He didn't say much to my white neighbor, but what a ass chewing I got. Then he had the nerve to tell his partner that I was nothing but a trouble maker. I wanted to confront him, but it was to early in my stay to do ..that!!! My white neighbor also damaged the water faucet & knocked down the pole that holds the pass. Nothing was said or done about it. The other rangers could smile a little...
