Nice site with plenty of space between sites. Pad was nice and level and camp hosts were very pleasant helpful. Shirt walk to the lake The only negative is that the parks electrical system is weak. When running the A/C my Progressive Industry’s EMS was reading 104 volts and the EMS kept shutting off power to the RV.

We love to come up here to escape the PHX heat and it never disappoints. Plenty of activities to do and access to the lake to take an evening stroll is great. It is very popular during the summertime and almost impossible to roll-up for an open space, so reserve ahead of time. Like others have said, just be aware that there are a lot of double-sites and if you don't know your neighbor, you'll get to know them really fast. That's risky, maybe one day; especially when it gets too hot! ;) We stayed during the covid-19 restrictions on the restrooms and wasn't a problem being 100% self-contained, their dump stations were available. We also love to come here for the cell connectivity, allows us to work without any worries of shady bandwidth; I mean, it's blazing fast! Having the town of Show Low is convenient for supplies and there are lots of other trails and beautiful scenery to take in. ... Fool Hollow is a great place to stay and camp awhile!

Some geese and ducks added to a nice ambient. Some of the spots were double spot and it felt a little tight, our spot was one of these but luckily our neighbors did not show up (reason for 4 stars). Very tidy and clean, lots of camp hosts, who seemed to me constantly raking and sweeping.

Great campground. The double sites are great if you're camping along with another family, but could make for very close company if you are looking for privacy.

My husband and I took our new-to-us, motorhome, the USS Shewbox, on our maiden voyage to this State Park sight unseen. We just read about it on the state park website and reserved a space. We were SO IMPRESSED! It was beautiful! Our space felt like we were alone in the wilderness there was so much room between sites.
The bath and shower were pristine and the lake was beautiful. Each camp site had a concrete pad, picnic table and either a barbeque or fire pit on which to grill. You can rent kayaks, canoes and paddle boats at the marina and they have a small store for forgotten odds and ends.
We had such a great time! If you want a mountain experience, this is a great place. We will absolutely go back. I would suggest booking in advance.

After a blown tire, damaged tail pipe & my outside plumbing destroyed by the blown tire, I finally made it to fool hollow. James is so helpful & good at what he does. But don't be Hispanic & run into Ranger bigot Ray. I accidentaly went the wrong way as did my white neighbor. I was 2" on the dirt, while my white neighbor had his truck 1/2 of it on the dirt.. He didn't say much to my white neighbor, but what a ass chewing I got. Then he had the nerve to tell his partner that I was nothing but a trouble maker. I wanted to confront him, but it was to early in my stay to do ..that!!! My white neighbor also damaged the water faucet & knocked down the pole that holds the pass. Nothing was said or done about it. The other rangers could smile a little...
