Didn't explore much further because it started to rain, but I would definitely stay again. The AT&T signal showed 1-2 bars but the data was cutting in and out; I was still pleasantly surprised to have signal at all, honestly. Rocky Mountain Roastery in Fraser nearby was a great spot to grab coffee and breakfast before hitting the road.

This is a very nice place to camp of you want to be near some trails. The road to get to the sites is very smooth and easy to drive on, however the downside was there was a bit of traffic up and down the road, but it wasn’t terrible. We stayed in the 3rd site up the road at the tight turn right by Elk Creek but it was dry. There were several spots to set up a tent and we had no problems whatsoever. I stayed with my dog and had a nice quiet evening out running on the trails and camping. I would definitely stay here again!

Elk Creek Meadows brings camping and mountain biking together. This dispersed camping area sits next to a network of well-maintained mountain biking trails.
Upon exiting the town of Fraser, just north of Winter Park, FR72 becomes a smooth dirt road. While it does bend and twist towards the national forest, it remains two lanes until the Elk Creek Trailhead.
This large trailhead provides a place to drop a trailer to scout as even the largest rig can turn here. This parking area also can become busy as it allows riders access to the trails.
The gate into the National forest land is the narrowest part of the road which winds gently uphill. As it is not a true two lane, if you have a large rig scouting is recommended, however anything 30 feet and shorter should be fine on the well maintained gravel road.
There are approximately 8 to 10 sites throughout the area. Most are far from any neighbors. As you drive the national forest has clear signage as to areas that allow camping and at intersections.
We found the area to vary between 1 and 3 bars of Verizon 4G.
The Iko and Broken Spade loop is accessible from the Elk Meadows trailhead. This also allows one to hike or mountain bike the Zoom and Chainsaw Trails. The Creekside and Flume mountain bike trails are also in the area.
