We have been traveling in our RV for five months full-time. We have visited lots of RV parks, campgrounds, state parks, and lots of dispersed camping.
This was an unexpected, unplanned stop for us.
The whole staff here was so friendly and helpful. Our visit went from two days, to six days, to seven days.
They were full of helpful suggestions.
The river was beautiful, everything was so clean. Very nice dog park, pool, large fire pit area, café, game room, and laundry room.
We have utilized the shower houses at almost every stop. From the outside this one looked a little, shall I say, forbidding, but ended up being one of my favorite showers. The water was scalding hot, the pressure was fantastic. I loved how It had an outer sitting room and then the shower area. They even offered a blow dryer. All the tile work looked brand new. It was spotless clean.
We will definitely be returning here sooner than later.
Be sure to visit Durango hot Springs, the Honeyville store, the James Ranch market, we enjoyed water rafting, a hike up at Havilland Lake, it’s a short distance from downtown Durango, and a great starting point if you’re going to head up towards Purgatory, Silverton or Ouray.

If you have a RV or camper, maybe the prices make sense; however, $75 for 1 night of tent camping is insane! And you only get 1 car for that price. Then, you get to the campsites and you’re basically on top of each other.

We have been to Durango many times and have stayed in the various RV parks….this park was by far the best. the staff are very hard working and very friendly. The laundry facilities are clean, but there were several machines out of order. $2 wash and $0.25 timed dry. The paid WIFI we ordered was temperamental to say the least, having to log in all the time, not very reliable for the price. The park could add cell boosters, and cable could be better.. There are several cabins that face the river and the staff are on them to keep them clean after a visit. The parks restroom are cleaned often during the day, and trash is picked up at your site. We stayed 8 days this visit, but have booked 2024 for 10 days……keep up the good work staff…….we love the place

We stayed here April 2023. Nice place with all the essentials. We picked a riverside back in site, that was just feet from the rushing river.

This campground is absolutely beautiful. The sites are well-maintained, although not level as it slopes down the mountain into the river. It recently changed from a KOA to a privately owned campground, and the new owners are very nice. They have everything from riverside spots to some that are up away from the hustle and bustle. It’s predominantly tree covered with cabins for those without an RV. We would’ve stayed much longer if we didn’t have plans to go further north. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it.

During our stay, only saw management at check in and a couple times on Sunday. Usually KOA management is very visible to prevent issues from popping up. This is the only KOA we've been to where they didn't escort us to our site and help get us set up, a minor nit, but it helps with management visibility.
The sites were very close together, so our picnic table was next to our neighbor's sewer hookup.
For the high price, we expected modern fire pit and grill, some space between sites, and better cleanliness.
Entrance was dangerous to negotiate as it was at intersection of three roads, one being a blind curve. It was difficult to see oncoming traffic, especially while pulling an RV uphill from a stop sign.

Still, surprised at $62/night for the non-riverside sites — $80/night for riverside. Sites are extremely tight. If you’re sitting outside at the provided picnic table and fire ring, you’re only inches from your neighbor’s open window and sewer connection. The park is tidy and the office even offers fudge, but for the price, one might expect a bit more room to breathe and better WiFi. Tomorrow, we’ll drive into Durango to talk with USDA Forest service staff for San Juan Nat Forest. We hear there are plenty (mostly free), beautiful dry camping spots. Will report back.

Enough room in the pull-throughs. Easy *beautiful* drive to Silverton. Short drive to Durango. Bicycling CR 250 is kind of nice and takes you across the Animas.
Cons: Packed. Very little space between campsites. Didn't see any trails to hike nearby, which was unexpected for such a beautiful location.

We stopped here for a night, no reservation, because we needed a night with hookups, and a chance to do laundry, before heading up the road to Lake Haviland which is a national forest campground which feels more out in nature, but with far fewer amenities.
