So we did not end up staying here. We are pulling a 30 foot fifth wheel, and the roads are in very bad shape. Lots of deep ruts. Note, we do not have four-wheel-drive.
With four-wheel-drive, it might be worth it .

The t mobil was 3 bars in some spots. Unlike other places that I’ve had two and three bars, this was actual usable Internet. No facilities except a toilet, but i dont need much so it was all good.

Traveled with 3 other trailers, some were small and 1 was a fifth wheel about 35 ft long and ours a 30 ft travel trailer. The paved road ends eventually and you travel through a more narrow dirt road. The road does not have much traffic which was a relief as it would have been hard to squeeze 2 tow vehicles down the same road. Clean bathrooms on-site. No dump station and no water. Each spot had plenty of room and each has a fire pit. The sites are pretty leveled. The location of the campground was ideal, near grocery stores and not far from Durango.

Not sure if this is a seasonal site but the campground road is gated and closed. No camping here currently.
Sign on gate says closes Sept 30th for the season ..... sigh......

I don’t see the value in that, not when there is free camping even closer to town (check Durfield) or about as far away in a similarly beautiful setting.
Maybe if there was at least a dumpster, the fee would make sense.
The bonus here is that cell service works well, there aren’t many other campers (lots of hikers though), and the first three miles or so of the trail is old-growth, a true rarity in Colorado.

Beautiful and secluded. The road is paved except for the last 1.5 miles. not a big deal even for a 40' bus. very quiet, very nice campsites. The only problem is no water and no trash receptacles. It's about 25 miles Durango to dump tanks get water or dispose of trash. Really great phone signal though!

I stayed here for one night on July 14, 2019 with a Class C RV.
The price is now $18 ($9 with Senior Pass). The road to the campground is paved except for the last 1.5 miles, and the following dirt road was in very good shape. The sites are large, but almost none is level. The campground has one (brand new) vault toilet and no other services - no trash, no water, no electricity. Good cell phone reception with Verizon and T-Mobile.
The place was almost empty when I arrived on a Sunday afternoon. Site #12 is great for RVs and tents. According to the very friendly campsite host it is especially from this site sometimes possible to watch a - supposedly harmless - bear (I did not see it).
The vault toilet had been newly installed just a couple of days before, was clean, but had an unpleasant smell. I don't know whether this is do to the fact that it is so new and the biological system has not yet fully kicked in, or because it has - because there is no electricity - no exhaust fan that removes fumes and gases from the tank. This is the only thing that I did not find perfect here.
Directly at the campground is a trailhead - if you are into hiking or mountain biking you can do this here very well. I think this is a great campground if you are OK with having no services except for the toilet.

Area was saved for the most part from last years fires but campground in great shape. In a fee area but quite minimal for such a great, peaceful location with the sounds of nature for the most part in the background. Sites have picnic tables and fire rings. Big rigs can easily access this place. Only a few big “fairly level” sites. Plus good cell service too. I’d come back again and stay longer should I get back to the Durango area for a few days.

Came for one night the weekend before Memorial Day. The sites were basic but no one was there which was nice. Campsite was green but the surrounding forest recently had fire damage.

If you are camping here in mid August 2021, there is a camper here who is staying long term (moves out a day and then returns for 14) who runs a VERY loud generator practically 24/7 or until quiet hours which is 1030 PM!
It disturbs the entire campground, and you will have NO peace and quiet. VERY SAD!!! Hosts really have no fault, they seem ok but can do nothing.
