We went in the last week of Dec last year and stayed until Jan. 1. We like it because it is shaded, quiet, great place to walk and to walk the dogs. Police ride through which is nice. Do wish people would pick up their dog poop, but that seems to be an issue most everywhere.

Sites are all back-in, some under shady oak trees, some in the open. Pay at the City Hall, about a half-mile walk. Dr. Pepper museum, specialty sandwich and coffee shops, and mom and pop cafe within walking distance, or Dairy Queen, Mexican restaurant, or Chicken Express a short drive to the other end of town. $10/night for seniors. Big stores in Stephenville just 15 miles north. No restrooms or showers. Dump station. Electric and water at sites.

When we arrived we shared the camp with Carnival Workers but it was so quiet we never knew anyone else was there. Each site has an Electrical box with 30 amp or 20 amp outlets inside and a garden hose hook up too. Site was very level with ball fields and grass areas all around. No homes or traffic nearby. An absolute best value.
Phone service was a bit scarce for the entire city.

The charge is $15, but we got the senior discount and paid $10. You need to call city hall to reserve and go there to check in. (Not sure how one would pay if it were a weekend) We were alone here on a Monday in November and they sent someone over to open the restrooms for us. The ladies at city hall were very friendly and accommodating. There was a storm looming, so they said they would send the police around to check on us - and sure enough, we saw the car drive through. It was quite quiet, despite being located a few blocks from the highway. There is a community pool and playground here, so I imagine that this would not be quite so peaceful on a hot weekend! We had 4 bars of ATT LTE. I would definitely stop here again on our way through Texas.
