We did a drive thru to show the road the area and some of the 15 sites.. they vary in size, access, and location on the road.. There is a map of the area on the video you can see as well.
We dropped trailer at Mesa Verde Visitors Center which is open 8:30 am to 4pm to scout the area. There is a parking area on the left as you turn on to MC CR 34 as well if VC closed or there is also a trailer drop spot past the MV ranger station on the left as well..
The road sign says MC RD 34 not CR -34 but no big deal as its the only road.. It's a paved road you go down like 1/4 mile to gate, Closed 1 Dec to 30 April, and the BLM info board..
THe road is not bad depending on time of year and recent rain.. Would not try it during or right after rain as it might be slick in spots. We arrived 3 April and there was a shallow ruts down around site 3 but OK for the most part all the way to end.
For me pulling a 30 ft RV there are only like 5 or so site usable going towards the end. some are only accessible one way or the other..
If you need to turn around there is a loop at end. It better to do left side so you can square it off to get past the tree..
Cell was decent non boosted ATT, T mobile,, but with booster pointed toward Cortez was real good. 10-12 meg down on both.
some of the site are more suited for vans, smaller MH, smaller RV trailers etc. would not bring more than a 35 ft 5th wheel in but that is me.. many are large enough for several unit if you have travel with friends. :) no fire pits but some rock rings..
there can be some dust and wind and a bit of road noise but the stargazing on low to no moon night are AMAZING.. MV does some start gazing prorams so be aware of that..
To sum it up a good spot, close to NP, can get dusty, muddy, wildlife, stars, quiet, free.. :)

My wife and I stayed here one night. We visited the Mesa Verde National Park which is only about 5 minutes away from the entrance. There were plenty of sites however, most of them were taken. Luckily, were able to snag one. The views were amazing and to top it off, it was free. I highly recommend this place.

I considered staying here but ended up staying at an RV park nearby instead for a few days. I did end up taking my truck down the road to check out the spots one day, and then my dirt bike the next day. The road is hard packed dirt and VERY bumpy. I would not attempt it if it has recently rained. There are a dozen or so sites and pretty much each one was occupied when I visited. I did test my cell signal out there and was able to make calls and connect to the internet with both Verizon and ATT.

Decided to check this spot out after an all day drive from the Grand Canyon. Driving out 28” Fleetwood Storm, towing an 18” flatbed. Access to the county road was very convenient and easy from the 160, but, luckily no other rigs were leaving at the same time as there would not have been any way to pass each other. Each site is sloped. There is a dead end into private property with a turn around loop at the end of this county road. We BARELY made the loop due to a poorly placed tree. With some skillful maneuvering, we got turned around to get out. Every spot was filled, but they were all closer than we normally like to camp anyways so we moved on to the next camp location. We will be skipping this one next time we come through here.

If you can't get a spot here safely, fellow sedan-drivers, there is a rest stop a mile west of here. I was going to stay there if this didn't work out, but I'm not sure if that's allowed there.

Just up the road from us The Bearded Villains were having a camp out. How cool was that! Check them out they have an awesome mission statement. I would’ve given this area five stars except for the highway noise and the dust. The road was a little bumpy but not bad. As always, if you’re not sure, I’ll walk up and take a look at the sites. The views and privacy between sites were really good!

When I arrived on Wednesday at around 6pm a lot of the camping spots looked taken so I kept driving until I found one that looked doable. It was initially 13 but it was a bit too close to the road so I got out and walked around the area because it looked like there where more possibilities for camping. Turns out 13 is divided into two sections, 13 and 13A. I ended up in13A as it was very spacious and pretty level.
It’s quiet, peaceful and free. How can you go wrong?! Enjoy!

If you are camping at a dispersed site, and there are a dozen from which to choose, maybe don’t pick the one in direct contact with the only other person there. It’s dispersed. So, go disperse your self.

we tried to camp here in february but we were disappointed to find out this area is closed from dec 1 to april 30. there is a locked gate blocking the road. it’s a great location, so i’d love to try again when it’s open.

This is now burn scar. Lots of burnt standing timber. Do not recommend. Some parts of this remained closed

Closed as of 1/2/2021, but would have been a great spot to explore Mesa Verde from.
