The check-in process is easy, you go to your site and someone will come around later in the afternoon to check you in. They have firewood available to grab as needed, and you pay in the box. The showers are clean and well maintained. Negative, the train tracks are near the campground, and since there are crossings, it blows its horn multiple times when going by. A basic campground with electric only hook ups. All sites are concrete pads, ours was level.

Typical COA campground. Paved sites and very well maintained. But, our fellow campers, not so much.
It was party time with loud music till late. And everyone had lots of lights. One even had flashing palms. Throw in the trains every hour, it was not a restful nights sleep.
Next time I'll look elsewhere.

A very well maintained park on the shores of the Mississippi River. One the other inland side of the park is a BNSF mail line with freight trains coming through. Lots of loud train horns.
Dump station without potable water. There are a few spigots in the park but you will need a long hose.

Might be the best place we stayed in three weeks on the road. Absolute clean and well maintained COE facility. Sunset and sunrise over the river. Fee was only $10 with senior park pass. Campground sits between the river and major rail line, so there are at least two long trains each day—loud for a few minutes, but worth it.

This was our first experience with a Corp of Engineer campground or any national type campground and loved it. We have a Senior Lifetime pass so our cost was $10, otherwise it's $20 a night. The sites are concrete and level. They have power 30/50 amp, and access to water (you just can't stay hooked up.) There is no sewer hook-up, but there is a dump station that is easy to access by the entrance. They have a restrooms scattered in a few places, one of the buildings has 4 restrooms with showers and they were kept clean and stocked. To conserve our grey tank and our water, we used the restroom and the showers, allowing us to extend out stay for 5 nights. This is not a crowded park, almost all sites have a few of the Mississippi River. It was peaceful. There are train tracks next to it and the trains run during the day and sometimes till about 11:00 pm, but not a lot. They do blow their horns as they pass by. The Park Ranger goes through about once a day. There is a camp host. The park is clean and well maintained. And you can't beat the view of the Mississippi River. Cell service was okay but internet was spotty, we are on T-Mobile. I would definitely recommend this park.

Pros: $20 ($10 if over 62) includes electric. Concrete level pads, mature trees, great view of river, bathrooms excellent
Cons: railroad tracks adjacent with 2 trains in the middle of the night blowing super loud horn many times. No real swimming area just muddy bank. No hiking trails. No septic hookup but has dump station.

The shower house is brand new and clean. The sites a paved, large, and at a reasonable distance from your neighbor. The sites come with 30 and 50 amp hook ups; no water in the sites. Water is available throughout the camp. There is a dump station on site.
The only negative about this campground is the train traffic. For me, the train is not the problem, but the blaring of the horn as they pass by the campground is deafening. This happens at all hours. During the day is fine, but at night or early in the morning is just horrible. It doesn't matter where you park, you will hear the train, just do not park on the sites along the road next to the tracks. As it was described by our neighbor, "it is like having the train inside your coach".
