Taking the exit of the 24 to enter the BLM-land be carefull the first part is rough with big boulders. We stayed 2 nights and it was convenient and close to Capitol Reef.

We did not stay here as we were already camped at the Beas Lewis BLM area a bit farther up the road, but we did drive in to check it out. We had to dodge large, partially buried boulders & deep ruts entering the area. It is just off of SR 24, so some road noise can be expected. We did not stay here as we were already camped at the Beas Lewis BLM area a bit farther up the road, but we did drive in to check it out. We had to dodge large, partially buried boulders & deep ruts entering the area. It is just off of SR 24, so some road noise can be expected. There was one port-a-potty on the east end of the camp area. It seemed fairly level parking once you got past the entrance. The views were nice, but we think Beas Lewis BLM is a much better choice.

We stayed two nights. It was pretty busy so you have to come earlier. Very close to all the hiking trails. Quiet spot in beautiful area

Dispersed camping, no water but there are two port-a-johns. Excellent views and great location outside the park. It was easy to find a spot. The 2nd nite we were there a large group parked near us with tents and vans, they had lots of lights and talked throughout the night. Wasn’t as pleasant as our first night when we had no lights and it was super quiet. Stars were incredible. There are several fire pits but no one made a fire, I think we were in a fire ban, not sure-no signs. Will definitely stay again.

Really enjoyed staying only 5 miles west of Capitol Reef National Park. Many RVs here yet very quiet all nigh long. Perfect location with room for many.

This is free camping on Forest Service Land just outside the Park. Some level spots but many require risers: like ya challenge for large rigs (there’s a more level choice towards Torrey). Some folks are abusing the privilege to use our National Trust lands to prove they can drive where they should not: try using one of the very many ... more
This is free camping on Forest Service Land just outside the Park. Some level spots but many require risers: like ya challenge for large rigs (there’s a more level choice towards Torrey). Some folks are abusing the privilege to use our National Trust lands to prove they can drive where they should not: try using one of the very many nooks and places that are already established (there are A LOT!). The FS has also added several porta-potties at this site clearly because of the use (and abuse) of the area. Please use them.
The access from the paved road has large rocks and deep divots: proceed with caution. Once past the entrance the going is easier. I wouldn’t bring a low clearance vehicle through the entryway.

This year being in a much bigger rig we didn’t want to chance it so we rolled in here about 3pm on Sunday Oct 16th and was slim pickings-it is high season. Come in and stay left for the least amount of rocks. Then we parked on ... more

This year being in a much bigger rig we didn’t want to chance it so we rolled in here about 3pm on Sunday Oct 16th and was slim pickings-it is high season. Come in and stay left for the least amount of rocks. Then we parked on the left next to the big tree. We wanted to go in and all the way down the road to the left but those were taken. We have 4 rigs come in behind us from arrival to leaving for sunset in the park, busy spot!
Didn’t grab any photos, some road noise but manageable, little trash and no glass we found. Very clean!

We stayed here the week before labor day. It was sporadically populated from Sunday throughout the week with mostly people coming in to stay overnight. It's very close to Torrey and to Capitol Reef. We stayed here the week before labor day. It was sporadically populated from Sunday throughout the week with mostly people coming in to stay overnight. It's very close to Torrey and to Capitol Reef. There's also a trailhead that starts in the area. Night skies and landscaping views were great.
The entrance in is hard to miss and very rocky. The rocks would cause issues for low clearance vehicles. We bent a stabilizer on a rock in the area with our lifted Airstream. It was fairly challenging to find a reasonably level site with our length of rig, but we made do. The whole camping area was fairly clean without any noticable trash.
Road construction in the park was ongoing and the location close to the road led to a significant amount of road noise. I don't think we'd stay here again vs. one of the other BLM areas down the road that aren't as close to the highway.
ATT service was excellent at 100mbps download and 5 mbps upload with a roof mounted Pepwave antenna.
