I wasn’t sure if this spot was still open being that it hasn’t had a review in over a year but it is! It is gorgeous and there is hardly anyone here this time of year. The gates now close at 6 PM and reopen at 8 AM. Put toilets are also nice and clean!

Camping closed and gated. Says hazardous road conditions in camping area. Lake is completely dry. Not a place to come. We parked at a small scenic overlook during the daytime to plan our next move. Don’t bother coming here.

My dogs enjoyed the hiking trails for our daily walks. Sites aren’t extremely level, but workable. I like that the gates close at night. Gave me a sense on security. This will become an annual stop for me.

Beautiful, mowed, tree covered sites with cement picnic table on a cement pad. All sites are pull they the grass. Vault toilets were very clean for vault toilets and inside was lit after dark!
So many birds singing to us all evening and all morning. Turkey called all evening and only once this morning and he showed himself before we left. We watched 2 deer grazing for a long time last night and saw them as we were leaving.
May have been my favorite campsite this trip. There was only 1 other person there and he was way down the road at the end.

On a positive note: The coyotes were in great spirits, and tickled us with their conversations.

Stayed free with my AtB pass. Mile drive down a pretty decent gravel road from gate to campground. Gate info is correct posted by others. Very quiet, spacious with cement picnic tables on concrete pad. Sites are pretty level. Pit outhouse that I didn't bother checking out. Only downside is it's in a remote location with no nearby towns. So bring wwhat you need. No hookups. The worse part were the flies! I don't know if it was just the time of year or what. But I've never seen so many in one spot. My teardrop door was covered with them as were the picnic table. Otherwise I'd give it a 5 star rating.Nothing to do, but good for an overnight stay. Stayed here 9/22/18.

It was pretty warm in the afternoon when we arrived (100F) but the breeze made it bearable outside in the shade. Beautiful dark skies at night. Birds singing in the trees. Wonderful coolness at night (down to low 60s).
Gravel road in campground - towed vehicle got pretty dusty pulled behind motorhome.
Free for federal access pass holders. Can stay up to 7 nights. Gate was posted as closed from 8pm to 8am.
We trimmed a few dead tree branches that would have hit the top of our motorhome.

2 mile interpreted trail that describes prairie environment. Not much for me to do here but the camp sites are well maintained. I camped on 16 February 2018. There is an automatic gate that closes at 6pm. You can get out but no one can get in. Not sure if time changes in summer.
