We wanted to go to Palo Duro State Park, but not tow our rig up and down into the canyon, so chose The Silos. It is a RV park in the plains in West Texas. Meaning no trees, flat, a bit dusty. So if you expect that, you will be fine. The sites are super long. We selected site #7 as it faced away from everyone else, but yes, you will never make the turn to the right to get out of there. You will need to turn left and go through an empty site, unless you have a van. The good: close enough to Palo Duro, close enough to Cadillac Ranch & The Sisemore RV Museum (definitely worth a stop at the museum - hard to find, but well worth it and please give a donation) and a fun stop at the Sad Monkey after Palo Duro. Also good: laundry and a small fenced dog park. Our Lab loved the park (although the fence holes let balls out) and her two pup friends she met. It was quiet & peaceful. The bad: the laundry needs to give you another 15 minutes of time to sort, fold & get all dry. Never saw the camp host. Just pull in to your site and park. A good place to base from to visit Palo Duro & Amarillo.

We got in at 8:30 pm…No one around, couldn’t see anything… ok, fine. I thought there was supposed to be a bath house; couldn’t find it. There’s some type of facility nearby that made Noise all night; sounded like a diesel pump or engine running 24/7. Also, train horns were frequent through the night.

We stayed for one week in our Travel Trailer on our way across the country, we love the local restaurant Brent’s Cafe and wanted to stop in on our way. We stayed in site 7 with a 40 ft RV. We loved how remote it was an yet still 10-15 min to anything you needed. Pros of this site were not looking at everyone else’s rv. Downside, if this park was full, I have zero idea how you’d leave? There was no way we could have possibly turned right to have left - thankfully there were many empty sites so we went left and drove through an empty site. Not sure how you’d leave if there weren’t empty spaces.
Was a little disappointed they didn’t have the shower codes in the email, when we arrived we learned our water heater that had been working 6 hours earlier, had blown a fuse and we learned this at midnight when it was 18 degrees. They did answer in the AM, but putting the codes in the email would be a nice to have.
For 250 for everything included for a week, we felt this was very fair compared to many other places in Amarillo that were easily 600-800 a week. We’d definitely come back! Our T-Mobile home worked awesome, Verizon had 2 bars of 4g. One note, we have dogs and noticed half our site was covered in beer bottles. This didn’t really seem like it was on the rv park owners vs irresponsible tenants - but our pups could have easily cut their paws so just pay attention to where they’re walking.

I reviewed this place last summer when we came through Amarillo. It was awesome then. But, we were very disappointed with our stay this fall. Driveway has big potholes now. The host, who was great last time was totally nonexistent. I left numerous messages asking for the access codes to showers and laundry and he never answered me. He did not stay overnight in the park. Trash can was never emptied and we stayed there a week. Their prices have increased and their services decreased. We will be looking for a new place the next time we visit Amarillo.

We stayed in site #7, would have had a difficult time exiting to the right due to the sharp turn. We were fortunate there was an open site to the left we could pull through. Other sites easy in/out. We will stay here again. We camped at The Silos at Canyon RV Park in a Motorhome.

Very easy access. Great camp host. Nice laundry and showers. There is a storm shelter in the guest house just in case. Good wifi and cell service with Verizon. Very quiet at night. Some full-time folks there and they were all friendly and quiet.
