We had planned to camp here while visiting San Antonio for a few days. Unfortunately the gate closes at 8:00 PM and if you aren't inside before then, you can't get in until the next morning. There is a security keypad, but for whatever reason, it is not available, at least to campers.

The best part of this park is it’s location & nice level pads but that’s it for the positives. Poor layout, bad roads & nasty bathrooms make this great location a two star.

Pretty humble place. As has been mentioned, it’s a big fishing destination. I got one of the four non-hook-up sites. You park along the road, which ain’t great as the fishermen all drive right by your rig, but it is basically a lake-front site…for $21. The park closes at 8; so, only campers will be left by then. I imagine people will leave long before 8. Sun goes down around six. Zero amenities. But lots of birds and waterfowl.
Also, it is right by the Interstate. I can see the cars go by. It’s not too noisy, but it would add at least one star if it were a little more secluded. Power lines run just to the south and are buzzing petty loudly.
I tend to like these inexpensive county parks, mostly because they are inexpensive. There isn’t anything to hate about this place, but there isn’t much to love, either.

Other than the power plant across the lake it's actually quite nice. Since I don't need hookups I'm right on the lake with a table with canopy. The sites with full hookup don't look all that great to me so I'm glad I don't need that. If nothing else it's a great overnighter on your travels if you can dry camp.

We thought we were getting a good deal at $28 a night for full hook up. Turns out you also have to pay $9 a day per person which makes it close to $50 a night for a couple. Might as well go to a resort for that price

The place was nice, well taken care of. I asked for a view of the lake, it was close to it, but not as close as I had expected. It was very cold, so I didn’t get to see the people. My husband met staff and said they were friendly.
It was a convenient place to visit San Antonio.

When I first arrived here, I wasn’t sure what to think. The view directly across the lake is a giant power plant and there is noise from the nearby freeway. I quickly learned though, that this is a bird lover’s paradise! So many different kinds! It was great, especially watching them all come back to life when the sun came up in the morning. Seems to be mostly a fishing area, the garbage around from that is the only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars. I think I was the only camper there that night. Very private. The power plant ended up being quite cool to look at after dark, too.
I boondocked, so not sure about the RV sites or facilities. Definitely a decent place to stay close to the city.
Also, the gates here are closed 8pm-6am. You can leave but can’t come in.

That’s full hook up w/50 amp. Only 11 sites total in 3 different areas of the 2 mile long park. The site pads are around 12’ apart and approximately 50 some feet long. You can dry camp almost anywhere in the grass area of the park for the entry fee plus $10 a night. Disperse camping is limited to 7 consecutive days in a 30 day period. The park is gated, a pro and a con. The gate opens at 6am and closes at 10pm during peak season, 8pm in off season, but can always leave, just can’t get back in until 6am.

“$28/nite camping + $9/pp”
noted 2/6/2023
I contacted them to check on the price and how to pay:. "Hi my name is Melinda, I am the assistant manager of Braunig, to answer your question of camping. We do not allow rvs to dry camp, you must rent a rv site at $28.00 a day in addition to the $9.00 per person fee."
noted 1/13/2021
I called the number for this facility and was told that they have closed it for overnight camping. Their web page confirms the closure also.
I was also told that they have instituted a $135 annual pass that must be purchased when they re-open for camping.
