Use High Park Rd/11, and if coming from Manitou Springs, there will be a sharp right turn and the dirt entrance will be on the left. There are a few lower spots for larger rigs, but no shade. We kept climbing and found 3 or 4 level spots up top with fire rings and great sunrise views. We were in a 4Runner and RTT.

easy to find. signs are helpful.
loved that it was secluded, perfect view of the stars, did hear some loud animal noises but they came and gone, pit to start a fire, two attached hiking trails, ground was a little uneven, it is a little chilly up there at night so bundle up.

Contrary to what the reviews say, I had zero service and I have T-Mobile. So that is a warning to anyone looking to camp here. I went on a little solo winter camping trip, it was super peaceful and quiet. Although the only campsites that were available were up until you get to the parking lot to the hiking area. Everything past that was all blocked off and you couldn’t go back into the hills. But for a one night stay just to get away, it was a decent place to go.
The directions are terrible to get here, it will tell you to turn off onto someone’s private ranch. That is not where you go and if you’ve gone there you’ve gone too far. Turn around and go back it is a tiny little dirt road off to your right that is very very poorly Mart and if you blink you may miss it. So keep your eyes peeled

There was only one other trailer here for day use with his horse. It’s peaceful and remote. Cell signal was very poor. Might work with a booster. The Submariner review has the best gps coordinates.

My first review here, and I’m hesitant because this is a place that I want to come back to, and still only see maybe one other camping party.
But, it’s also selfish to keep it from others who should enjoy this beautiful place.
We stayed Thursday-Saturday. We drove all the way to the end of the road and there was a car / tent there. They were friendly. They had a fire going in the fire pit, which was annoying (state wide fire ban). Just don’t do that people! We backtracked to the other open area site and happily set up camp, took in the blue sky (escaped the Smokey haze on the front range), wandered around the rock formations and cliffs up the hill.
A helicopter came through rather low, which seemed odd until less than 30 minutes later a ranger drove up the road, waved at us, and (my guess) drove up to the campfire couple to have them put it out.
This place is such a gem. Close enough, yet secluded. Quiet (rarely heard the air brakes of a truck in the distance or the cows that graze beyond the barbed wire fence).
We hiked across the meadow area below the cliffs, up the other side, and I’ve never felt so alone. Wondering if our ‘trail’ was an old mining road. The ground is unusually soft here (hence previous reviews mentioning avoiding when wet).
Saw deer, bear, and coyote scat- but no animals besides ground squirrels, prairie dogs, and cows.
AT&T service was non existent at our site, but if we walked uphill about 100 yards we did get a bar or two.
We picked up some trash- cig butts, cans, etc., but overall was clean and beautiful.
Please keep it that way!

A very peaceful spot, only one other car and they were out of sight of us. The most remote we’ve had. Good views, some campfire rings (although I believe there’s a burn ban in effect, check that), very quiet. Strangely there is some occasional noise from the road but not much. As another wrote it seems this is a rarely used spot. Don’t attempt if conditions are very very wet. Can’t comment on what there is to do as we were just there for a night as we needed a spot near Colorado Springs. Not a bad commute into that down because the site is only one mile up a dirt road, the other roads are all very good - actually a very enjoyable and pretty drive in along small highways. Would definitely recommend especially if you’re sick of stressing if you’ll find a spot at campsites.
SERVICE: 1 bar LTE on at&t which actually was better than it sounds, we could even stream some video but it cut out occasionally. 0 bars T-Mobile.
DIRECTIONS. These directions assume you’re coming at this site from the East, as we did. This is very long because we wasted an hour trying to find the site and I would hate it to happen to anyone else. Don’t be intimidated, it’s not that complex.
I would recommend using the gps coordinates from the APP, NOT the location that comes up when you google booger red hill. The gps coordinates tried to have us go through a gate labeled “Shiloh ranch” which was clearly private property and closed. The actual road to the site is just BEFORE the turnout for Shiloh ranch by a few hundred feet. If you’re on CR-11 you go up a hill, around a few turns, and then around a nearly 90 degree turn. Immediately when you are upon the straight road again there is a small brown bureau of land management sign labeled booger hill to your left, that’s the dirt road to take. So start looking to your left as soon as you turn onto CR-11 and start going up the hill, although as I said it won’t appear till the turns are over. If you miss it and end up at the Shiloh ranch gate just turn around and head back the way you came, it’s easier to see from that direction anyway. Look to your right and you’ll see the sign and gate just before you get to where the road curves, very close to the Shiloh ranch gate. I tried to grab the start of that road on google maps and the coordinates are supposedly (38.7225040, -105.2815888). I would zoom in there before you head out and you’ll see the road you’re looking for, although it’s barely visible on google maps. Remember the booger hill sign is very small and easy to miss! If you’re on the right road there will be a gate that says it is closed when conditions are wet. The site itself is a mile or so down the dirt road, and the road is narrow but not bumpy. We have a van so can’t comment on how an RV etc would do.
If you do as someone else said and plug in the name of the site on google maps you will be directed to turn down some road with a big sign above it labeling it as “Lakewood ranch” or something like that (lake something, I forget). DONT DO THAT. Thats the “community” someone before us mentioned is incorrect, which it is. We originally misinterpreted the directions as meaning we should turn down that road and just drive along it until we found the site, which wasted a ton of time. That road does not let out to the site ever. Do not turn down “Lakewood” or whatever, keep driving up the hill and follow my above instructions for the sign being visible right when the road straightens out.

Cell service was spotty at best and only from the road. Able to make a call or send a text every now and again.

We spent one night here and plan to return again. This is a gorgeous hilltop location surrounded by amazing views. It is a bit out of the way if that is what you're looking for. There are "nooks" to cozy up in your campground. There are places for campers and tents. Campers would want to stay closer to the entrance just due to the road condition. The entrance is steep and narrow so those with campers and larger vehicles may struggle a bit to get in, but you should be able to do it. It is a dirt road that is warn.
Note: there are about one dozen cows free ranging this space so there are cow patties everywhere. These cows can be loud. I've never heard cows make the noise these cows make. They will also come up to your camp and stand there staring, but they are harmless. It's pretty funny, actually. I told my son they were talking about us. You may have to shovel some cow patties way to find yourself a great location. The don't really stink either, which is weird. There are fire pits about as well.
A previous post stated to google because GPS is off. GPS is off slightly but googling took us into a community about 1/2 mile down the road with no entrance to camp. If you are sent to a community, you have not gone far enough. Keep going to the end of the road and take a left. The entrance is about 1/2 mile or so down the road.
The location is just off CR 11 at the top of a small hill past an old farm stead on the left and a church on the right. It is labeled with a brown sign off the road behind the gate but if you're not looking for it you can miss it. It will be on your left. GPS is about 200 degrees off.
