“Great spot for us.”

Access can be easy or not.....2017 you were not allowed to drive over the dam to get to the campground (the easy way) Instead you had to drive about an 8 mile dirt road to get in the back way....uneventful road, but your vehicles are going to get REALLY dirty. Not a problem for us. You can do it with a big rig but most people with those units don’t want to subject their coaches to roads like this.

There are no hook-ups...at all. No water, no spigots nearby. There are water spigots across the lake at Boca Rest campground, but if the road over the dam is closed, that’s a problem.

The sites are all dirt....silty dirt, the kind that puffs up a cloud when you step in it! However, we love it, we carry enough water on board to last us, and I don’t mind getting dirty!

If you want paved site pads and water spigots here and there, go up to Logger campground at Stampede Reservoir....but the same dam restriction could be in place, which means a longer drive on a dirt road.

The very friendly staff at USFS in Truckee will tell you if the dam restrictions are in place.

If you're planning to camp here, try to reserve spot #7. It is at the end of the road and overlooks the reservoir. Very beautiful.

This campground has no hook ups, no showers and no running water. There are pit toilets only. But, if you are looking to unplug & bask in nature's beauty, this is the place. We saw deer and heard coyotes every night. The view over the reservoir was gorgeous.

You can swim in the reservoir but the walk down is quite steep.

Also, Boca Dam Rd is closed for the season, so we had to take a longer route to get to the campground. But, still, it is an easy drive to Truckee.

In general, this is an excellent rustic campground!
